The CWG was a success inspite of Kalmadi
by amarnadh on Oct 12, 2010 06:29 PM

Donot get carried away Imran. It is this attitude of ours which lets us get abused over n over again by the filthy politicians. The delivery of the games infrastructure was poor and the bridge collapsing was inexcusable and so was using the services of the army for construction. The army jawans should not be misused by the govt to coverup the monery swindled by corrupt politicians.

The stadiums were not ready in time, thereby robbing the home atheletes the home advantage and the chance to practise at games conditions which any other host nation would have provided. The sand artists i read in another article on rediff itself had not practiced before and the live show was their first performance, totally unacceptable for a world class event though they deserve all the credit for pulling it off fine.

Imagine the kind of pressure we put on all our atletes and performers all of which was avoidable.

The CWG was a success inspite of Kalmadi and not because of Kalmadi.

The President of India DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam 's Speech in Hyderabad .
Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?
We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news. In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T.Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.
Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come bac
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.

YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?
Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchan ge in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I

Very right dear.
but the question arises does a common man do all those stuff.
take the example of games lane in delhi when fine was Rs. 2000/- most of the expensive cars are breaking the rules not the motor cyclist or small car owner.
n just think where they are getting such a confident? from govt. coz they are paying to our politicians...
Corruption never start from lower end it always start from top end.

I totally agree with you, Whenever these whites come to know that they cannot compete with Indians in a game , then they either try to bend the rules of teh game or swittch to some other game. After this wrestling case, we can see cricket which was immensely popolar in england but since indian/aisan team become stronger they swithed to other ganes lie rugby/soccer etc.....Simply we indians are the best and Whites are cheaters....If we are give 10% of the facilities that these while people get in their countries I can bet we indians will not allow them to win 1 single medal in olympics....Their is no substitute to hard labour combined with intelligence are we are best on this combo.

India winning gold medals is really funny and very humorous, when there are no countries and atheletes participating in CWG, obviously only people left is we alone, and we are on a winning spree...let them show their guts at the Asiad and Olympics, hahaha...india will be down under the medals table, with one bronze and maybe a silver! hehehehe...

No need to regret all u or any indian was worried was the corruption and not the games village If there was any problem with construction.... CWG committe would not have allowed the games to begin.. Problem clearly seen is the delayed constructions and corruption.. waht all abuses u might have done was ok.... Any way hats off to Indian players who gave their best..
