India had following achievements in Asian games,2010.It seems this wraps up our medal scopes in the event unless there appears a surprise medal from marathon tomorrow:
• Indian women’s and men’s Kabaddi team got gold medals as expected • 4 x400 meters Indian women bagged gold • Vijender Singh roared back to thump his authority and shrug off the non show of CWG and clinched the gold medal. He was in such aggressive mood that he thrashed the Uzbek world champion 7-0. • Preeja Shreedharan won silver in 5000 meters although she had a keen contest with the gold medalist. • Virothu Santhosh Kumar settled for boxing silver • Kavita Raut settled for the bronze in 5000 meters • Yama Anup Kumar got bronze in Men’s single free skating • Yama Anup Kumar and Avani Bharat Kumar Panchal were also able to get a bronze in pairs skating • Indian men and women chess team had to be content with bronze • In the last medal event of the day,Manpreet Singh also had to settle for silver,as the Syrian opponent was to strong to tackle ! • India won 12 medals today,4 gold,3 silver and 5 bronze • India setted for 6th position with 14 gold,17 silver,33 bronze, total 64 medals, this is India’s highest ever medal haul in Asiad since 1982(57 medals). • On 13 February 1949,

• On 13 February 1949, the Asian Athletic Federation was formally inaugurated in New Delhi, alongside the name Asian Games Federation, with New Delhi announced as the first host city of the Asian Games which were scheduled to be held in 1951.India was in 2nd position behind Japan in 1951 Asiad with 15 gold medals and total 51 medals. • In 1994 we were 8th,in 1998 we were 9th,in 2002 and 2006 both 8th and here in 2010 we climb to 6th position • Since 1951, it is 59 years and still we could not level that 15 gold medal haul..however, we bettered than 1982 Delhi Asiad, where we had bagged 13 golds..we are moving but in a snails pace, where as the world is moving so fast… • Liu Xiang, the Athens Olympics and 2010 Asiad 110 m hurdles gold medalist of China gets a salary of 1.6 billion Yuan(1000 crores) per year,I am afraid to calculate what Abraham Joseph,400 m hurdles gold medalist must be getting ! We think giving him salary and some facilities is enough sympathy showed, whereas in China sports men are considered to be modern day heroes. • Thanks to Olympic gold quest of L.N.Mittal, for sponsoring our athletes targeting London Olympics • Government had done a good thing by sending a huge contingent of 649 atheletes, they will get great exposure and saw what is competition and what is outside world

• It is time to change, all political people should get lost and sports people and management experts need to take up sports organizations • It is time, our corporate and media promote sports other than cricket • It is time government thinks that sports is a career and achievement in sports is our national pride.. • We need to act fast…our system needs to change fast,or else people will discard all obsolete people and welcome Nitish Kumar type leaders..it is now or never..good night…
