Asiad: Indian shooters' and other's dismal show continues
by raman govindan on Nov 17, 2010 02:07 PM

priority for most of the Indians is roti, kapda aur makan. when there is no assurance for it, they may not risk a career and their livlyhood in short term and all risk career in sports.

until every boy or girl will be able to get a decently paying job without much difficulty, and much influence with an average academic grade and able to get through without any competetive exams, their attemts at sports will only be only for pleasure or as hobby.

they will slog to get rank to get through the engineering, medicine entrance examinations, CA, MBA etc, get top grades and get a firm foothold in their career and a lead a decent life. the sports come to them later and is low in priority.

the only method to get some success and attention in international athetics and other games is for government to identify those from the age group 7-9, provide them decent food, lodging, medical and mentor's care, education upto graduate level, beside coaching for which the children have aptitude. and an assured career for the students who complete the years with the training and education whether they succeed academically and in sports or not.

I find no other alternative to it. spending 1000s of crore in conducting international games in India will not help. it is a sure method to squander resources.

INDIA WAY BEHIND CHINA
by j j on Nov 17, 2010 01:53 PM  | Hide replies

INDIA IS WAY BEHIND IN CHINA IN PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING! SPORTS IS THE WORST! CHINA COULD COMPETE WITH THE BEST COUNTRIES INCLUDING USA, RUSSIA & JAPAN IN SPORTS & HAVE PROVED IT OVER THE YEARS!

COMMONWEALTH GAMES WAS LIKE LOCAL GAMES! UNLESS INDIA CAN COME UPTO CHINESE LEVELS, SELF-PATTING IS STUPIDLY MEANINGLESS!

LET INDIAN SPORTS BE TOTALLY DETACHED FROM GOVT. & MINISTRIES EXCEPT FOR AID & SUPPORT. OR IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE MEDIOCRE!

world champion

tejaswani sawant this year became the world champion in women's shooting. so far in the three events she has represented india she has failed to qualify in any of them. i have a question where was this world championship held, who were her opponents, where they from countries like vanatu, timor, tahiti, mauritius,st lucia etc.it appears so,this is why i have a point for the media that you all start pouring accolodes on a certain individual for his/her accomplishments without verifying the quality of opponents/level of competition.

India at asian games
by krishna on Nov 17, 2010 01:28 PM

Much was expected from Bindra and Narang in shooting event. Both managed to win silver despite of windy conditions and tough chinese, japanese comprtition. Can Indian hockey team win that elusive gold medal and automatically qualify for 2012 London olympics is the important question? Comments and suggestions are welcome.

We indians are not treated very well?or wrong food given by chinese for droppping our performance? Why indian players puutting their tails inside ,they should not think about olympic medals next 20 years, till political leaders and non sporting persons as olympic comittee charmans, demoralising real possoble medal winners,India central and state govts. should start massive programmes to find playesrlike Limba ram, young child so called publicised athetlete from South india,If anyone wants to make india proud, the indian central govt. sports ministry should introspect or close all expenses related to central sport ministry, all officials and sportsman, athethletes should show performance before demanding money from govt.?See 100 medals inCWG and in front of China urinating in clothes, pants seeing tough international real competion?hahahaha

This is the problem of the system..a rotten system created by congress over the decades..and to hide its failure,it finds scapegoats...we need reform in our establishment and governance system...we have to throw congress to the Arabian Sea to change India,no other way...
