The biggest problem we have in India is how we the people are so easy to get hyped for any small news and blow it out of proportion and in the end get disappointed when reality hit us and our position becomes clear
All it takes is some sophisticated media hype reports and that is it -- we the people go ballistic
so do not blame others when disappointed.. ask yourselves, why did you buy into the hype without long-term consistent data to back it up
whenever our sportsperson fail @ the world or asia level we criticize our politicians & ours sports infrastructure. has anyone wondered why the darlings of the crowd, leander paes,& mahesh bhupathi have stayed away from the asiad, because both wanted to win the men's doubles title in the ATP 100 Masters @ paris, which concluded on sunday 14th. money is everything for these media pampered so called icons.these no goers never made a name in the singles category & took the easy path of doubles where the exertion is much-much less. i appeal to the sports fans to stop pampering these selfish rogues,& hope the media too will co-operate.
why media is crazy for medals. Just think. These games are just for our physical betterment.I think who ever are coming 5th or 6th are as physically fit as the 1st winner. So why do we have to carve the medal. India & Indians is good in many things. We shd concentrate on that and physical fitness shd be only a vocational pass time.

@talk cool, why did you go to school? people not going to school are also living as much as you. SO, why carve for education?
Blaming the athletes is of no use.first and foremost there is no proper infrastructure for athletes and sports people in the country.the biggest eg is football.there is no infrastructure for these sports.we have enough indian companies to sponsor sports in the country

first of all , the asian competition is much tougher than the Commonwealth games .Since the chances of getting a medal are more in CWG, great names like sania , Leander, mahesh bhupathi , rohan bopanna etc turn up for that and not for Asian games, but chosing to make some good money in Paris masters and other tournaments . Where is the country , when it comes to money matters. Brother, the world runs around money and not nationalism !!!
Indian 'stupid middle class' was drooling in appreciation of the 'superlative' performances of the Indian athletes in the CWG. There were widespread 'oohs' and 'aahs' about the 'impending' and 'inevitable' rise of Indian sports to the world level despite the lack of proper support from the authorities !
With China thumping India at the rate of 17 to 1 or 18 to 0 in the matter of Asian games golds won each day, this 'stupid middle class' has now changed its stand and has gone back to blaming this political party or that political party for the umpteenth dismal show put up by Indian athletes !!

indian middleclass is neither stupid nor the performance in the CWG is superlative. The reason is indians are physically weaker(including punjabis) than caucatiens and mongoloids. This may be due to economic and geneological reasons. prakr
I don't know why Govt. sends these below par athletes/players to Asian/Olympic games. They are wasting our money. They should not be sent. Only players who have chance to do something, should be sent.

Dear friend
its easy to criticize the players. But before that lets look at what support the govt provides them. Kalmadi, dixit and company were busy devouring crores and these athletes having very uncertain future toil hard!!! And let me tell you by loosing at international stage only our head should hang in shame not theirs. Its a poor sports culture, overaged and grandpa type of ministers ruling the sports corridor what can we expect but such shameful performances. LEts come out of closets support local talented players through some means otherwise politicians are known for their shamelessness.

Dont curse polititians, they are chosen by majority of us. Curse them who elected them or didnt vote at all.
Last time when I criticized Ashish Kumar for his big mouth after he won couple of medals at no BIG player common wealth, few of the board members replied to my post with some lucid comments. See where he stands in this tournment to understand what his real capability is...
Re: Ashish Kumar...
by ravi kumar on Nov 15, 2010 10:51 PM
yeah you mean to say you should get Nobel prize for that?? Ashish has lost what can you do to help may be not ashish (since it seems you dont like his big mouth) but tashish or bhashis (those who are small mouthed) to win their games??? Lets support the locally talented players on our own so that they can rise up to become medal winners. Just as you needed nourishment and environment to win in your life these players also need conducive environment training and nourishment and secure future to show the fire in them.
After that no-competition CWG games, india was hyped so much and people were boasting typical indian style saying india is world sport power.. now look at our standards at asian level where world powers like China, Korea, Japan are trashing us. Indians should realize reality and talk less. I think if we win 10 gold medals that will be enough for us. we should talk less and let the results speak for us.
