let us compete them in a totally different sport, say, 100 m sprint? who wd win? He wd be the best
"Anand, who shifted to Spain for better opportunities, also received the 'Jameo de Oro' the country's highest civilian award given to a foreigner", says the above article. How about the Indian Government conferring on him the highest civilian award in India - the Bharat Ratna. More than honouring Anand, the country will be honouring itself by conferring on him the Bharat Ratna!

Great Dalit Leader Dr B.R Ambedkar was awarded Bharat Ratna 34 years after his Death. Subbi Laxmi, another South Indian received Bharat Ratna at 80 !!! May be Anand will have to wait for a long to get highest award. Any Way ,he has been awarded with Padma-Vibhushan --SECOND Highest award, this is no mean achievement. Sachin Tendulkar is line for the same award.
We were expecting a lot from M S Dhoni and co at WC T 20,They lost all matches !!! On the other hand Nothing much was expected from Anand and he WON !!!
For the excellent article.. We always had this rare jewel with us.. but not many of us gave him importance when we were busy chasing the Indian Cricket team which kept disappointing us..
But, somehow, I'm proud that the govt. has identified the worth of Anand and conferred him with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Bhushan.. After Sachin Tendulkar.. he is next in line to get the Bharat Ratna from the sports arena.
plz dont drag me into stupid regional debates. I'm neither Maharashtrian nor Tamilian

Bharat Ratna, after Sachin Tendulkar.... Wake up buddy, I do not care whether Tendulkar gets it or not for he plays a game played by just 8 nations. Anand plays a truly global game and should be given the Bharat Ratna much before Sachin. If not, the award itself will lose its sheen!

Go get a life, you sorry loser..go back into some wasteland in India, bury your head in the sand and don't come out. Parasites like you weaken the Indian state. A man becomes World Champion in chess so many times and all you mron can think of is which state he comes from..you leech..
First, Congradulation Anand! What an achievement!! However, you had to credit to Balgaria too, been such a poor country for organising such an event with 2 million euro price money.
Where as India bosting to be a world super power economy giant no heart to organise such an event, in india for an Indian super star.
Previously FIDE had a dilema in organising this event as no one came forward for sponsorship. After longtime the Balgarian Government with the help of the locals were abale to organise such an event.

The greatness of the person lies in the way he conducts. There have been greats in all fields,Big B is good in his field and so is Sachin. I do not want to comment on others in your list as I do not consider them worthy to discuss as the greatest. This is an achievement by an Indian that has not been matched yet.He has been truly great. God bless him. There is a saying in sanskrit "Sarvey janaha sukhino bhavantu".

Are you dumb? Or do you pretend to be dumb? I cannot believe that you wrote your posting in a serious bent of mind! His achievements in the world of chess across several chess-playing countries is lauded. and you have the gumption to ask this! I am amazed

well, bihari is in a way right too.. we in india do not know much about Anand... chess is not an interesting game for very many people. it does not excite people watching the game.. i get excited by watching priyanka, same is true in watching sachin shewag sixer, amitabh acting etc.. so anand is yet another guy..like a common public..dont make him whatever you wanted to be.
