India require 2 goal keepers in the playing team to reach semi finals. Even then it would be little doubtful

ind if they want to ever qualify then they shud drop players like deepak, prabjot, chandi, sandeep. they r complete waste. only thing is that they only know to play hockey & not make any impact on scoreline. in current players, rajpal, pillay & gubraj r the best. i wish rasquine was there in this current team

i will surely 100% to tell you that india will loss this match against spain becos of their teams are not very strong and potential. also they did not play well ie middle field, forward, defend and tough to shot goal for penalty corner.. i think india cannot chance to go for the last 4 stages.. i love india but hockey team did not perform well in match

INDIA WILL BE BACK TO KICK EURO TEAMS
by Vivek Kamboj on Mar 04, 2010 04:02 PM  | Hide replies

India played a great game against Pakistan. Against Australia also I think they played very well in the later part of both the halfs. 5-2 score line does not tell the whole story. We played very well with one less player. India will bounce back today and they will beat Spain, England & South Africa and most probably Germany in the semis. Our every single present player is capable of becoming a part of world number one team. I have full faith in my team. BEWARE WHOLE WORLD; INDIA IS BACK TO REGAIN THEIR LOST CROWN IN HOCKEY.

We should appreciate our team for whatever they achieve.

our hockey player cant even arrange for 2 time good food and we want them to beat European teams ?

Shame on us to expect this ...

first feed our children balanced food then expect them to compete with world.

No point burdening them unnecessary.

No doubt that till the start of the world cup i too feels same, but just see the performance of India in last two matches, we were far ahead of Pakistan and against Australia, we suffer major attacks in only first 10min of both the half’s. If you are talking about speed & stamina in latter half of both the half’s we were similar to Australian players. I think we have over passed our earlier problem of giving the game in last minutes and i am quite confident that from today we do very well in starting time also. My friend just see the class of Prabhjot, Deepak Thakur, Arjun Halappa, Rajpa & Shivendra, They are capable of beating any good team. World cup is all about 7 matches. Playing well in these 7 matches means champion for four years. I fell our player are capable of proving calculation of whole world, the will do well.

We are yards and miles behind all European countries and Australia. We cannot just match up with their brand of speed.Reaching semis or not is not the point bcoz even if we reach semis we are certain to be thrown out

only australia is that noticeably quick ....we should still appreciate the indians never lost their nerves and were displaying some true skill valiantly in the last match...other teams except from korea , india can handle the speed with our ingenious brand of hockey

antipakanticongress ; south indians rely on facts and try to deal with them weras north indians r too much emotional and take bad if u tell them thier flaws instead of correcting it.do u want any one other than legend dhanraj pillay to be patriotic and also a top performer?if there is any flaws in u analyze it see the weak points and then correct it.thats wat should be done.btw i am a so called south indian by your thoughts though i consider myself only a indian.thank you

Our National Game !! which one really ?
by Ganesh R on Mar 04, 2010 03:58 PM  | Hide replies

These are the rankings of the hockey playing nations as of Dec. 2009

1.Germany
2.Australia
3.Spain
4.Netherlands
5.Korea
6.England
7.Pakistan
8.NewZealand
9.B elgium
10.China
--------------------------------------

11.Canada
12.India
13.South Africa
14.Argentina
15.Malaysis
16.Japan
17.France
18.Ireland
19.Austria
20.U.S.A.

Hockey is National game of India because we once won 8 Gold medals in Olympics some 100 years back. We are still living in past glory.

The present scene is that in cricket we are No.1 in Test rankings and No.2 in ODI rankings, and its not our national game.

In Kabaddi we always win GOLD...in every tournament we participate. Its not our national game too.

Even small countries like China, Belgium and NewZealand are ahead of us in Hockey. We are not even in Top 10 rankings in hockey.

Only once in 1975 we have won World Cup in the entire history of the game.

Its our National game and we dont have a coach from India but have to rely on some foreign coach for teaching us how to play our own national game hockey.

The coach of the current world's 3rd best team is coaching us and teaching us the 12th ranked team in the world how to play our national game hockey. Isnt this so sad ?

I hope and pray India will win today against SPAIN. I love INDIA. I love hockey. I am sad to see current state of Indian hockey. We were unbeatable on Grass . But on Astro turf and against fast playing teams like Netherlands , Germany or Australia we seem to struggle.

But we must try to beat SPAIN today to stay alive in this contest.

We have home crowd support in Delhi and this is our best chance to win and try to make the semis although its going to be really really tough.

Hope we beat SPAIN in a tough match today. Apart from just solid mid-field play, we need to tighten our defence and pass the ball quickly. We lost the plot against the very fast paced Aussies mainly because of lacklustre defence and letting go of 2 goals in first 10 minutes of the game itself. We also lost because we were not quickly passing the ball and each Indian player was holding on to the ball and thinking what to do , when the Aussies snatched it away from us and proceeded towards our D to score the goals or attack our goalie.

Also I see no reason why they changed the goalie SREEJESH who did so brilliantly in 1st match against Pakistan and stopped their attempts at goal.

Never change the winning combination they say. As it is we lost SHIVENDRA SINGH for 2 games, now why remove SREEJESH and put Adrian in goal. Why change winning combo unnecessarily. Against Aussies what happened ? Goalie changed for India and they pumped 5 goals against us. Why try new things when we can win

kabaddi is a wholy Indian sport tht will never go 2 the Olympics...as far as cricket is considered, even here we r living in past glory (1983)...Aussies showed who is the boss in the last ODI series...

Hey Guys
Let's talk logic. Hockey is an international Olympic sport so all the more difficult to come on top. Cricket is played by only 8 countries and in India if a player plays one cricket world cup he can retire whereas if a hockey player plays even for 13 years he still has to live a hand to mouth existence. Would any of you encourage your children to take up this sport? it is up to all of us to boycott cricket and encourage other sports.

India will take some time regain her past glory. Nothing can be achieved overnight. Indian hockey has been bruised and battered for a long time, now all of a sudden we expect our team to reach semifinal, that's rediculous.
Think about this, we have so much money in cricket, still we cannot win the world cup, and in hockey the national players have to go for strike for payment.

I think the German captain is right. We need to really come out with inspirational game so that we can think of reaching Semis.Spain is no walkover. I doubt if India will win today.
