Indian in their second match against Aussies were in totally contrast to what they were against Pakistan on Sunday. Austarlia throughout the match was dominant on the field .They showed a superb display of modern hockey in form of its speed, interception and man to man marking. They way aussies were playing showed that how well they had come out with a game plan which was meticulously executed. They demoralized the Indian team by striking two early goals in the beginning of the first half session. Indian defense seemed to be totally helpless against the tenacity of the Aussie attack. Indian should take some lessons from this defeat and should bounce back in their next matches.
In Hockey World cup all 12 teams are very strong and anybody can beat anybody. Every match is almost evenly played, except for a few.
In Cricket World cup, only 5-6 teams are good, all other minnows. Most of matches are one sided against the minnows and players of stronger teams have good chances to make personal records.
This shows lacunae in the domestic system of hockey tournaments, where there is no competitiveness involves, lack of passion for the game is another aspect, we dont have any chances in world cup to win, as it will be same lacklustre performance, u need a big win to revive but it is pessimistic approach and attitude which hasnt change at all.

Any person who has reasonable knowledge of state of Indian Hockey in India wouldn't have thought of Indian winning this world cup.

yes u are correct but the problem is that whenever we lose in that way we think of our lack of domestic structure and whenever each tournament gets over we just waste our times whole year behind the third class bollywood movies
Was thinking why cricket has been adopted as a religion by Indians while hockey is treated as an outcast.....Look at the cricket...Ever since 1983, we hav been performing consistently. We won the 1987 world championship down under....have been in semis in '87 and '96 WC and in the finals of 2003 WC...today we are at number one spot in both forms,Test as well as ODI's.
But what about hockey? how long can we bask in the glory of the 60's and 70's when atleast one olympic gold medal was assured by this sport..?

Motivate them....the Cricketers get lots of money by means of add's & match money & other benefits, in contrast what do the hockey players get they are offered peanuts, so no motivation then u can just bask in the glory of the 60's & 70's

Yes, India played with the most powerful team of the tournament today. I am sure they will come better with England, Spain and SA. The 4-1 win against Pak is still a psychological edge for India, that they can do well against any other team.

sandeep singh as a defender couldnt do well.... while today aussies really played their heart out making indian team look like a amateur team... remaining games we have to keep our fingers crossed.. win against spain, england and even south africa is now an uphill task
i enjoyed this match much more than 400scorers in cricket, not to mention last one. i never heard crowd singing national anthem like they did today.wish iwas in delhi too.
