octopus's victory
by R Balasubramanian on Jul 12, 2010 10:41 AM

Its indeed a great achievement for Spain to hold aloft the world cup after nearly missing it earlier on two occasions. Even the Dutch played equally well and they should not loose heart for loosing it by whisker at the last moment.
The real victory should go to the Octopus which predicted Spain victory well in advance and it was topic of discussion to the whole world media.
Can India take a leaf out of these games and improve their standard? Our so called seniors just keep talking without any performance and accuse the ministry of sports for favouring Cricket. Search your souls seniors and bring out the hidden talent in youngsters across the country and build a team for the world to wake up and notice our talent and force. Let us show the world that we not only win matches in movies but also in reality. Can we do it? We can if we have WILL.

Ugly World Cup Final
by Abhijit on Jul 12, 2010 10:39 AM  | Hide replies

This is the ugly football final.
All the time foul and not a good match.
Germany - Spain Semi final is the best match in this tournament.
Germany - Urugua Loosers final was also good.

its like you enter a railway station to board a train and the train has already arrived. There is a long queue for current ticket. Will you leave the train for the next or get the ticket through some other means?
This what happens in any field where you have to show your supremacy.

Spain is well-deserved team to win the cup. The way they defeated Germany was amazing. Dutch always played rough game. No wonder everyone in holland team got a yellow card.

Here is the Final Analysis . . .
by Dona Paula on Jul 12, 2010 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

World Cup winners: Spain
Luck was on their side. Winning goal was clearly OFF-SIDE. Robben was unlucky with the ball when he had the opputunity. It is pure luck that the ball was blocked by the spanish goal keeper with his leg unintentionally.

Team that deserved the win: Germany

Why they lost: Mueller did not play, internal captaincy row, and perhaps a tiny bit by paul the octopus.

A average team like spain winning the world cup is ONCE IN A LIFE TIME. It is difficult for them to reach the semis of any world cup hence forth.

Nishu or pissu, whatever your name is. Don't be abusive. Understand that I could have replied is kind or worse. What I have expressed here is my opinion about the WC. Mind your language next time. Relax, You will live longer.

Who says Spain is an average team. I think you look like a baby to the world of football. Spain is 2nd in FIFA rankings.Spain is best in defence, passing and possession. They have the best goal keeper. Dont debate on luck factor because your favourite team Germany could not score a single goal against Spain.

Spain really rocked even without involving the in-form striker Torres completely,....if this man was in form....it would have defeated germany like teh way germany defeated argentina.....Spain deserves it.......

Todays' big teams were average teams few decades ago....
