Brazilian flair goes out
by kskumar on Jul 02, 2010 10:04 PM

Brazil played a flowing game, and it is unfortunate they lost. May be playing Felipe Melo was not a good move. He is far too temperamental and loses his cool easily as he did against Portuagal in the first round. Elano's injury also came at an unfortunate time, though his substitute, Dani Alves was good. The Dutch were lucky to get away with an aging Andre Ooijer ( he is 36, considered a ripe old age in football ) committing mistakes in defence. Hopefully Mathisjen would be back in the next game. If they can pull on together instead of fighting each other, that would be good.

Good luck to the Dutch.

World Cup
by jimmy noronha on Jul 02, 2010 10:00 PM  | Hide replies

This world cup is already determined by the numbers....

1. Brazil won the World Cup in 1994; before that they also won in 1970. Adding 1970 1994= 3964

2. Argentina won its last World Cup in 1986; before that they also won in 1978. Adding 1978 1986= 3964

3. Germany won its last World Cup in 1990; before that they also won in 1974. Adding 1974 1990= 3964

4. Brazil also won the World Cup in 2002; before that they also won in 1962. Adding 1962 2002= 3964

5. Therefore if you want to know what nation is going to win the World Cup in 2010, you only have to subtract 2010 from the magic number that we have determined: 3964.
3964 minus 2010 = 1954... In 1954 the World Cup was won by Germany!!!

Probably not scientific... but pretty interesting..
LETS WAIT & WATCH......

Brazil was still a better team in today's match. If not for the self goal, Brazil had very good chances after taking the lead. It was just a bad day.

way to go dutch!!
by pramod mathews on Jul 02, 2010 09:54 PM  | Hide replies

brazil lost to a better team, have no shame in that! they relied heavily on defence with only robinho, fabiano and kaka in offense.
once they got the first goal they settled back to defend. but the equalizer from out of the blue restored dutch confidence and they went for the kill. story of the match.sniedjer was amazing, so too arjen robben.
due to the high intensity fouls were committed and a red card for brazil put paid to their hopes of equalising and winning.
in away this makes up for the dutch this makes up for their quarter final loss in 94 and semi loss in 98.
keep the flag wavin' guys.

No credit.
All debit goes to Brazil for playing pathetic football.
This is the worst game that I have seen Brazil playing in last 6 world cups.
They lacked the temparament to win.

If you have the seen full match, Brazil played far better overall. But they deserved to lose after a self goal. Looks to be a Spain Holland final with Cup going to Spain.

brazil played better inthe first half, but after their own goal they lost direction. i think they were a little too enthusiastic in tackling robben finally leading to the red card.
i'll go for a holland - argentina final!

After today's display of Dutch "Total Football", it is unpredictable as to who will win the cup this year....I admit that Brazil was better in the game, but in today's football, playing is not all, I think...Dutch comeback was remarkable...

Come on, don't give excuses.
If Brazil did not play well, don't blame 3rd parties for their poor show.
Actually referee could have shown red card (i.e. 2nd yellow card) to Batistos for consistently fouling Robben. But he didn't. So relax ... don't be a cry baby ...

I saw 2nd half. clearly dutch was superior. Brazil clueless. Dutch is famous for their Brazil style of fast football and was always a threat for Brazil, watch 1994 3-2 defeat of Dutch to Brazil.

afzal aziz,

It is sad but true that this is the worst football played by a Brazil team in the last 6 world cups.
Their weakness was exposed in the Portugal match.
So a defeat in the knockout stage was already looming large.

Brazil lost as they were not having a plan B. They went into their shell too early and allowed the two goals and then lost the flow of their game

Correct observation, Ajay.
I have never seen a Brazil team with such poor temperament in the last 24 years.
I have seen any Brazil team fouling a particular opponent player consistently just because he is a good ball player (like Arjen Robben).

Relax man, don't waste your tears over a Brazil team which has played the worst game in the last 24 years.
And be sporting enough to concede that Holland played tough and ran all over the field.
