Cricket v/s other sports
by bak bak on Feb 03, 2010 06:40 PM

how many people watch cricket and how many watch other sports (including snooker). if people are not interested in watching snooker or any other sport, why does these sportspersons blame cricket? why dont they make the sport watchable or interesting?

Rakhi Sawant
by Santa Singh on Feb 03, 2010 06:39 PM

The way these idiots are distributing the Padma Awards, I will not be surprised to see Rakhi Sawant receiving one Padma Award next year.

PADMA AWARDS
by NITIN DESHPANDE on Feb 03, 2010 06:29 PM

These awards have lost its significant. They are now synonymous with film awards as mostly given to them. Those about whome India is proud of have reduced to levels of film actors only. Its national shame rather than a pride that Saif Ali khan kind of people are awarded with these awards and Merchants are ignored.

Pankaj Advani and Yasin Merchant are right
by Nitin Darji on Feb 03, 2010 06:23 PM

There is obvious political pressure in selection and omission of awards. Otherwise, how is it that Yasin Merchant who has done so well for India in Asian snooker has been conveniently ignored. He does not have any godfather perhaps. And he has mentioned all the right reasons for the problem, not giving excuses that he has been discriminated because he belongs to so and so community etc.

Unforunately, nothing would change in this respect in India.

by Sheikh Akber on Feb 03, 2010 06:09 PM  | Hide replies

Desolving BCCI should solve the purpose..centralized governing body should be formed..which look after all the sports in India..all the incomes shall be shared..but no political idiots should be involved...educated management is required for a gr8 outcome.

That will ruin cricket as well..
look at the status of hockey.

Cricket is earning money on its popularity why other sports should be burden on it.
There is no other sport in which India is a dominant force.
Hockey was popular when India was winning. The moment we started loosing the interest waned.
Its a circle Success brings popularity money which draws more players to the game and in turn more success..
Look at football its almost boring Indian matches where as look at premier league matches you wil be hooked. Its again same quality success popularity/money more quality more success....

Every sports governing body should attract talent keeping aside the political agenda for some time(I repeat for some time only) and improve the quality. the success money will follow which will help filling these governing body members to fill up their coffers.

The moment the other party comes to power, corruption will disappear.
I still remember BJP's Mr Judeo, Mr Bangaru Laxman caught in front of sting camera.
