It is no surprise that our Union Government is very alert when Indians are entering the country. We shall be astonished only if the Union Government is vigilant when foreigners with dubious enter the Country. They are rarely questioned.
So, It is no surprise when the Pride Son of the Country " Viswanathan Anand " is enquired about his Nationality. Every Chess loving Indian knows that he has opted to stay at Spain to keep his Chess Skills updated with constant companionship of his coaches who are all foreign chess wizards.
If at all Dr. Manmohan Singh is a real Patriot, he should announce special status to this Great Son Vishy and take appropriate action against the over action oriented bureaucrats.

This is evidently a great (sic) job done by an idiotic bureaucrat who is not accountable for any of his actions. Just because Anand has made Spain his second home, it does not mean that he has surrendered his Indian citizenship. How long will these idiots continue to make mockery of the Indian Administration?
It is high time the govt enacts an "Indian Administrative Act" a la "Army Act" and punish the guilty severely for their misdemeanors and misdeeds.
Is there any choice before Anand other than remain unfazed and diplomatic? We recognize an Albanian born woman and give her Bharat Rathna, have no qualms about almost making an Italian born woman our Prime Minister, but when it comes to the likes of Anand or Baba Amte, born on our soil, we dither. What else can one say except: Bharat Mata ki Jai - Indian politicians and bureaucrats Murdabad!

This is a minor incident. If we have to hand our head in shame, it should be for letting India become a banana republic under the mafiaship of Sonia. There are many vatican agents also on this board.
I never knew that he was staying in Spain. I thought he was a resident of Chennai. In one of the messages quoted above, somebody has mentioned Anand as being a Punjabi. But, I think he is Tamilian Brahmin.

He lives in Chennai for 6 months. When the tournaments happen, he lives in Spain to cut Travel as most tournaments happen in Europe or Americas

Lol...Anand being a PUnjabi. Those punjabis are only good at eating aloo and muli and passing gas in DTC buses. They cannot play chess if their life depended on it.
