I have always been a huge Federer Fan...right from his early days...when he plays fluent..he is a musician..but over the years Nadal has something in him which federer doesn't and it is mental strength. Nadal believes he can win all the time. i dont think the same way about federer..i would still watch wimbledon final egging federer to win...but i must say when this guy nadal is on song...he returns balls which no mortal in this world or even aliens are supposed to return...he looks from another galaxy..i am thrilled to watch in amazement...for me..federer is a sweetheart..nadal..a reality check..just like ur heart goes for aishwarya rai..but wife is a reality check...long live both.............

federer is gifted player and nadal is hard working player

roger is the undoutely the god of tennis ..no one can replace him ...he is most gifted player and the most elegant player with simple efforts and single handed back hand ...he is mentally powerful player even though he is down to 2 sets down and he is coming back very strongly...where as nadal even if he loses the first set in the grand slam he is not mentally not powerful..then if he loses first 2 sets back to back in grand slams he will never come back like king and god of tennis roger federer...look at federer he never went down to grand slams semi finals since french open 2004 (19 consecutive semis 13 finals)..he is undoubtely the king of tennis ....roger is the world best player ever even if loses french open....nadal is a power player ..his service is very poor ...no variety in his shots ...not the best returner of serves...this is wat he lacks ..where is federer is good in all depts

Nadal lacks? Was it why he was able to beat Roger in is so called own backyard, the Wimbledon, then again at Australian Open? Not to forget the Olympics Gold for his nation as well, it was just a bad day for Nadal...

Federer has also beaten Nadal twice on clay court. Head to head record doesn't indicate which player is better. Otherwise Paes will be called better than Sampras. Despite of bad form Fedrer is reaching finals in each grandslam while Nadal lost in his own backyard before QF.

I always said beating Federer in two sets is not a big deal but beating him in third set is not a cakewalk. You can see the difference in Federer performance in master tournaments(3 sets match) and Grandslam(5 sets match).
Nadal should do the same which Federer did yesterday but unfortunately Nadal is Nadal and Federer is Federer.

Well, Well, Well.
Mr. Rathore, you, of all persons must know that your hero was extremely lucky to have got through yesterday. In the third set, at 3-4, 30-40, he was at the brink. An error at that point, and he was on his way out. And the shot he played at that point; it landed on the line: A high risk shot.
You do not mean Federer deliberately allows Haas to go two sets to love up, 3-4 up and 30-40 up, before turning on his magic!
And by the way, I am forgetting something I would like you to remind me of: When Nadal beat him at Wimbledon last year, and again at Melbourne this year, were the matches played as Best of 3 sets or Best of 5 sets? I really regret my forgetfulness.
As a Federer lover, you should be concerned about two aspects of his game:
1. His record in 5 setters: I read somewhere it is 14-12 or sum such ratio. It shows that he loses almost as many fifth sets as he wins. It is not good, and
2. His record in Tie-Breakers. I do not know the exact figures, but his conversion rate in recent times has been less than satisfactory.
Best of luck to you, and to your Hero.

Oh you are saying he was 3-4 down in second set. You must also show that he was 2-0 up in second set. The fact is he won more convincingly last 3 sets. What happened to Haas in fourth set? Don't think Federer was lucky. I have seen so many shots of Nadal who landed on line, should I think Nadal was lucky?

Aishwarya Patil: Your memory serves you right except on the awesome record of Federer in Grand Slams. Last year, when he was going through the worst crisis and losing to every Tom, Dick and Harry (which includes Nadal!), Federer still reached the Semis of the Australian Open, the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon and won the US Open. His bad form continues this year (that is what pundits say, because he is Federer and he must win every tournament he plays!)but still he has already reached the finals Australian Open, the quarters of French Open (of course, Nadal the King of Clay has already lost in Fench Open this year) and continues his awesome record in Grand Slams. May be he will lose in the Quarters, may be he will never win any more Grand Slams, or for that matter any tournament, but the fact is he has already achieved greatness. Just look at his Grand Slam record - Excluding the present French Open, 19 consecutive Semis in 18 of which he reached the finals and won 13 of them. Let any of the present day players, including Nadal (having lost in the fourth Round in Fench Open, he has to begin all over again)achieve such a record then we will talk about their greatness. Till then, let us salute the one and only Federer, a magician on court, especially in Grand Slams!

Nadal and Federer in this season:
Nadal - 42 won 5 lost
Federer - 30 won 6 lost

Is it huge difference? If you think Federer is lucky, same should apply for Nadal.

get ur facts ri8
he is gretest tennis player ever to play
his game is unique unlike nadals power game and his tie break conversion also good
nadals short perios is over its fedrer has been and will be all d way champion
and considering 5th set last wimbledon final also roger comebakced from 0-2 sets down and almost pulled off victory had nadal not got some lucky points in the decider(not to take any credit away from nadal but this is the fact) roger is da best player and you have to admit that

Aishwarya Patil, I think you is so much obseesed about the record of the players then pleae check how many players have won 24 straight points on thier service in a single set? I think nobody, but that happened yesterday and that has been done by our hero.

The Federer phenomenon
by ravi ravi on Jun 02, 2009 07:13 AM

Ofcourse, it is a great recovery. But looking at the struggle in the initial rounds, it is going to be very difficult for him. If he does, it will be great. Neverthless, his chances are very slim. From Semis onwards, on a given day any player can win. The difference amongst the players are very thin now a days.

You are 100% right, in the sense that Federer can never win the French open. There are a whole lot of players like Fernando Gonzales, Davydenko, Del Petro, Tommy Robredo in the last eight who have been playing their best tennis now. I hope one of these plyrs wins the final.

OK Monk, let us presume that Federer never wins this year's French Open and from here on loses in the first round of every tournament he ever plays. Does it make him less greater? Excluding the present French Open (where he has already reached the quarters in spite of everyone's doomsday predictions while the King of Clay is already down and out)he has reached the Semi Finals of the last 19 Grand Slams consecutively, reached the finals of 18 of them (the only blip was the loss to Djokovic in last year's Australian Open) and has won 13 of them. He won 25 consecutive finals he contested before losing a Finals, that too to Nadal on Clay! Yes, the Murrays, the Djokovics and others are sniping at his heels. But Federer has already achieved greatness and there is no need to belittle this magician's achievements. Others like Nadal play physical tennis putting in lot of efforts. When on song, Federer strides on the court like a Gladiator with a magic wand. That is Federer for you, my dear Monk. When it comes to Grand Slams, you must have something extra. Federer had that over the last 4 to 5 years. May be he is losing a bit of it now as age is catching up with him. In spite of it, others are still finding it difficult to take advantage of him in a Grand Slam even today. Let us hope for the best, for if anyone deserves this year's French title, it is undoubtedly Federer. I wish he wins!

Ya we have all seen, Fedex losing all the times and whenever the Grand Slam comes fedex is above the rest and yet manages to reach the Finals and semis. I dont recall when Federer last lost in rounds other than semis of Aust Open and French Open, i think he has entered all finals except where he lost in 2 semis in past 4 years.

It seems Federer is at last in the luck.
Serving in the third set at 3-4, 30-40, Federer's heart must have been in his mouth.
He will have to raise his game considerably, if he has to win here.

June 1 st and it could have easily ended for fedex .............nadal was out yesterday and chances for fedex were bright but the next day tommy haas took a 2-0 sets lead over fedex and iyt seemed all over but fedex humiliated haas in the next three to take the match 7-6, 7-5, 4-6, 0-6, 2-6

even though its a tough road ahead roger i still feel that he will have play out of the skins to win this.
