Most boring finals ever
by raj on Jul 06, 2009 02:09 PM

It was bit boring for me to watch the two fight it out without being able to break the serve

especially the 5th set showed that Federer is not at his best for sure

Greatest Wimbledon Victories
by gautam shetty on Jul 06, 2009 01:44 PM  | Hide replies

There are only three that come to mind

1)Goran Ivanisevic(2001)
After loosing to finals three times, twice to Sampras and once to Agassi(where he was considered favourite) it was heartwarming to see the big man from Croatia beat Rafter win his sole grand slam. One of the best moments in tennis history undoubtedly

2)Jana Novotna(1998)
Winning the singles championship in 1998 after loosing two previous finals to Graf(where she choked despite having a 4-1 lead in the final set and ended up crying on the shoulder of the Duches of Kent during the presentation) and Hingis the previous year, it was an emotional victory for the Czech.

3)Rafal Nadal(2008)
Beating Federer last year after two false attempts. A great match and though Federer clawed his way back Rafa ended up clinching the championship.

Aces comparison

Federer gunned down more than 40 aces but Roddick less than 30. Not unlike him yesterday.

True any tennis player who has ever been ranked in top 10 is a top
plyr
tennis is the most competitive sport coz of its profile and coz its an individual sport
one feels sorry for andy roddick, he choked but played overall better than feddy
i can only say that one is lucky to have had feddy and laver
laver and fedex are champs
tennis has a different history
in the past-grand slams were not most important and hence plyrs like laver turned pro
one salutes laver and feddy
great champs.
we wud never know how great feddy is as he said himself
coz you cant compare opponents of the best players of their time and coz majors were not considered so important before
rod laver missed 100s of majors coz of turning pro and contracted pro and was not allowed to play
those days, all best plyrs turned pro
laver has won a stagerring 199 singles titles plus any no of doubles and mixed doubles
the great laver wud have won many more than his 11 singles majors
he missed 21 in a row and more just before sweeping all in 69 and after sweeping all in 62 when he use to win every match
he missed many in the 70s too
he was a true legend
people who saw him play at his peak or othrwise say its laver first and then daylight
he is someone with most kind and humble words
long live laver
the champion
likewise maragret court wud have won more than her record 24 singles majors anyway-shes the best ever
i dont read posts i dont reply to

Fedex make hay when the sun shines!
by Anuraug Rathor on Jul 05, 2009 11:32 PM  | Hide replies

Fedex should make the most of Nadals indisposition, and hope that it extends longer and longer so he can scoop up as many titles as possible. From the way Andy Roddick clearly dominated him in this final, with Fedex barely scraping through, shows that Fedex is running out of steam.A fit and rejuvenated Nadal will pursue him with renewed vigor once he is back.So hurry up Fedex!

The true genius of a great player is playing in "all" matches and winning in "most" of them. That's Federer and not Nadal for sure!
ATP rankings suck....
