People that defend Sania have low, low standards and expectations
We as Indians have such low standards. How can people say 'at least someone from India has come so far' - to what, to the first round??! Also 'no one has done as much as Sania, she's India's best' -> what does this say, low goals? Are you saying it's ok to do so poorly.

People younger than her, from war torn countries are at world 1,2 with multiple GSlams. Look at Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic.

Piddling second rate results, fake accents, and no-good excuses. She has the best facilities. Forget this no-hoper and follow some real players.

Do not set low standards, defend such poor quality, and fail to achieve these goals even.

How many times do we have to hear of rd 1 kickouts and doubles the next day. Isn't it so sad and pathetic? Why is this even being reported?

Oomph is no substitute for talent. Sania missed out on the success route a long time ago because of misplaced priorities. She, quite likely, will get nowhere in women's tennis, but will continue to cause ripples in the hearts of Indian males, for whatever reasons. Fortunately for her, she will also gross millions as she struts about in tennis skirts, proclaiming a pathetic epitaph of 'India's top women's tennis player'. And, thats reason enough for her glamour!!

SANIA DISMAL PERFORMANCE
by Ranbir Johar on Jan 22, 2009 09:17 PM

The main reason for Sania,s dismal performance is lack of physical fitness. She has to be more disciplined in her food habits and undergo intensive physical training from a coach to compete at international level. Best of luck to her.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR SANIA TO REACH SEMI-FINAL OF ANY GRAND SLAM IN HER LIFETIME,FORGET ABOUT WINNING IT.It is possible only when the sun rises from the west.If she or her fans are dreaming of winning any Grand Slam,it will remain dream forever.

saying she is Indias bet player - just think, is being Indias best player being the best in the business?

it is not her credit, but discredit to other Indian female tennis players

look at Saina Nehwal - she is already world no 10- w/o the media hype, the flashy earrings and t-shirts, look at Mary Kom - who is a 4 time world champion, look at Koneru Humpy- and a host of others - do they get the same hype?

Mary Kom in fact plays a more dangerous contact sport where chanves of injury are higher and Saina plays a faster sport.

the Sania hype is just because she is good looking, nothing else

and yes, womens tennis is nowhere as competitive as mens tennis, after the top 10, there is a huge chasm- just look at the scores of the initial rounds of grand slams, you will realise.

well, and she is criticised because of the hype that she surrounds herself with - if she could live up to1/5th of that hype - reaching the 3rd/4th round of any grand slam / tier 1 tournament, there would be much fewer comments

I would actually criticize the media here. They overhyped Sania because of her looks simply to sell news and products.

one cannot deny the fact that sania is a muslim and thats why she was at the centre of attraction, Indian media and american media(during us open some years back) tried to show to the world that she is the modern muslim....otherwise, i dont see any palpable reason why she deserved to be overhyped...

Nice that sania the show piece exits tennis...the most pathetic thing is the way she gave excuse" lack of match practice". and also i hate the way she speaks..she speaks in an american accent..try to be an INDIAN sania..and if possible please stop playing for INDIA.
