After a year of injury, she has reached final of an ATP Tournament in her second tournament after injury which itself is an achievement. Even Leander / Mahesh were no good singles players.

For god's sake, she has reached the finals of a WTA tournament and has been beaten by a world No.5 player!!

Mahesh Bhoopathi, leander paes, trained in madras, somdev devvarman also learnt and played in madras before he was picked up by virginia uni coach. ramanathan krishnan, ramesh krishnan, amritrajs were also from chennai. chennai is the fortress of tennis education. your opinion has no base.
The discussion is about the incompetence of sania mirza. I am happy she is competing at a local level. But globally she cannot achieve it as she is carried over by too much distractions in our country. That is also the problem with all our players. They are all mal nourished. 2 people (bhupathi and sania) can win one championship but when they are single they rank 300 or 400 in the atp rankings. I wish sania best of luck for atleast trying hard to her level best. We need to encourage as Indians we are good in admiring and commenting but when it comes to action we can play very good politics and do nothing.

Distractions - you got that right. But funny that you didnt notice that doubles is a different sort a of game. The skill level for singles is different than doubles. Some singles players might make good doubles players too but thats becoz of their talent and not becoz any singles player can just walk in and play doubles. RF won olympic gold, but he is just a very good tennis player; for those couple of olympics weeks, he adapted well to doubles. SW and VW did well too. But numbers are too less.

One day she will, she 1000 times better then you are. You can't even pick the racket, let alone play. Excellent job Sania keep it up.

Don't point the blame towards me I never wanted to play tennis any way. I am also good admirer and critique like you are.

Ha! you havent understood the basics of reviewing... Public can say anything on a subject if they are knowledgeable, it is not necessary they need to have the skill themselves. You cant deny the fact that Sania, talented as she is, got distracted by the glam of the ad world. Look at how Saina has conducted herself. Game first, rest next.

who watches badminton man ? tennis is far far more tougher than badminton. Badminton is only played by a few Asian countries seriously.

Be practical....i m also proud of she being first Indian to achieve the heights...But there are many better players out there....Can't 4gt match between Williams and Sania.... Sania still has many weaknesses in her game...her backhand as we all know is not that great...and injuries are always on her back...wonder if she ll break into top 20's ever....
Its understandable that after a 2008 wrist injury and 2009 Mixed doubles Championship Win in Australian Open with her Mentor Hesh Viz.Mahesh Bhupathi Sania just could not balance herself to beat her Russian opponent.I was sure that Sania will win today. But she played below par because she played in the doubles as well as singles tournament.Focus must be on one in which you are best fitted. One has to see how much your muscles, bones, tendons, heart can take to be winners.I remember Vijay Amritraj could play singles and doubles with his elder brother,Anand because he had got a good physique. So had Mahesh and Leander winning Grand Slams and WTA Titles are no jokes.I saw in Dubai open with my daughter Sneha a couple of years back that Jelena Jankovic of Serbia beat Sania in 30 minutes straight sets.Today Jelana is world No.1 Rank and Sania World No.126.What matters is strategies, coaching, all court play, good physique and winners always.I am a Snia Mirza Fan from India and hope One Day she wins any one of the Grand Slams for us Wimbledon-UK,US Open-Flushing Meadows New York USA,French Open-Roland Garros-Paris and Australian Open-Melbourne but to do that she has to preserve her energy levels and manage her Tennis Management on and off the field well.I know she can do it as she is a great Indian Woman Player-An Icon for the young Generation like Yuvi,Ankita Bhamri to emulate as Role Model.Well Done SANIA.

Truly said Aurnob ....Wats ur age ..........I love Sania too.....madly.....but nt her game as I dont find anything when i copare her to Steffini(Graf) or martina.......But she still has lots of chances to go up the ladder,,,,,I love her Physical beauty and her Guts to go out there and perform ....to raise high hopes n mind of every Indian ......to match her beauty by her will power and to overcome her deficiencies .....She has all the ingredients of a future champion ....I wish I could possess her ...own her ... and love her.......
There is a saying "If you dont know to dance, the dance floor is found crooked.".Now she says that she was tired that is why she has lost the game. If she has won the game then she was not tired.

Why dont you go an play a tennis match on the professional circuit? Are you capable of it? But you are capable of sitting there and making lousy comments on players that are the best in the world. The only female tennis player before Sania has made the first of the Australian Open only, for your information. What nonsense do you have in reply now?

Please note you are talking about an Indian female tennis player not about female tennis players all around the world

Precisely man, you seem to have a big mouth with no brains, I was obviously referring to Nirupama Vaidyanathan who was the first Indian tennis player to play in a grand slam.....
