The greates ever???

Sports they say appeals to the most primeval instincts of a man as we can do whatever we want within the framework of that sport. it is such a rage coz, no matter how many "real" reality shows they bring. it cannot match the unpredictability, ecstasy, pain, triumph and heart break that the sport brings.I am a die hard Roger Federer fan, watching him has been one of the greatest joys of this life. the grace and elegance makes you feel that if gods played tennis its resemblance would have been very close to RFed's game. Only coz of this parochial devotion i have maybe not hated but disliked rafa nadal. But on sunday the way Rafa manged the whole post match conference makes me feel, that though RFed might be the greatest player to have played tennis Rafa must surely rank as one of the best players, and surely if not the greatest one of the greatest persons to have played tennis. that sorry was (incidentally the 1st words he uttered) was one of the most sincere displays of sportsmanship topped with that consoling arm over his vanquished opponent. never seen such graciousness in a bloody battle. Vamos! Rafa.

very rightly said mr sameer...but many had missed another such show of sportsmanship after last year's french open final...after crushing federer in one of the most lopsided slam finals including a 6-0 set , rafa didnt celebrate in his usual style the way he did in his previous 3 attempts at rolland garros...when asked the reason for this in the post match conference, rafa replied that federer had an unusually bad day and he didnt want to disrespect him by celebrating too much infront of him..i believe that by displaying the level of perfection needed to earn his fourth consecutive rolland garros title , he had every right to celebrate in his usual style ...but by refraining himself from any overt show of joy as a mark of respect to his vanquished oponent, rafa displayed one of those rare shows of sportsmanship as a victor that will forever be rememberd...although i am a die hard fan of fedex, this single act of humility and sensitivity of a man who plays hard but fair made me a lifetime fan of rafa also ....vamos! rafa

Crying Federer - such a shame!
by incognito forever on Feb 03, 2009 12:41 PM

Although, being a long time fan of Roger, I'm forced to say this today - Federer cried, such a shame!!

I have seen Federer cry after every grand slam he won. But, crying after a lose in a final is a shameful display of a Champion.

Federer should not forget that he is the all time greatest to play tennis and he has it in him to go for 15 or more grand slams... Patience and attempts are all is required of him!!

Good luck Feddy!!
