pete vrs fedex

pete never played for points. he played for the match. The score lines were always like 6-3, 6-4 likes. He holds his serve lets the opponennt go with his; and its only towards the end of the set or such appropriate time that he attacks the opponents serve with a couple of his running forehands and closes on the set. He like always conseved his energies. That is why he won his his first grand slam in 1989 ( US open) and last in 2002. He played, for sure, better opponents than fedex did. Fedex is is just a genius. but he did not have that kind of opponenets during his playing years. Nadal surfaced just two years back and beated him in four slam finals. Fedex is a natural, instinctive player. And his days are over. As for a perswonal opinion I love pete ad rate him higher than fedex

yeah ..absolutely right..its not like that nadal is playing much better tennis than fedex ..the issue is becoming totally psychological.fedex need to beat him one time so that this gap will reduce .

Media is so fickle. Two weeks ago, they were jumping about Murray. Last year, this time it was Djokovic.
And when Federer wins his next slam, they'll start chanting about him again.
And now they're saying that Nadal is going to do lot of things. Too premature. For all we know, there'll be 17 year old chap somewhere practicing forehand and backhands that have even more topspin to challenge Nadal.

A few of years back, it was Roddick who was slated to topple Roger, then it was the duo (Rafa and Djokovic), now its Murray and Rafa, perhaps later this year it will be Tsonga and Murray and Rafa. Tennis is far more unpredictable than cricket. Anyone in the top 20 can beat the others on a given day. Lets just rejoice in the sublime artistry of Federer, his grance and fluidity of movements on the court. He is absolutely amongst the best ever to grace the courts... lets all leave it at that. I for one, do not like the slam bang tennis that we see very often these days. I bet McEnroe in his prime would have toyed with most top 10 players of today (barring perhaps Pete, Andre, Roger and Djokovic). Make no mistake, I omitted Rafa deliberately. Rafa needs to add more subtle ammunition in his heavy calibre armoury to be called an allround player.

Listing is ok. But why you omitted the name of Vijay amirtharaj. On his day he could beat any of the players you have listed. DO you know a memorable match davis cup QF against De la Pen of Argentina. Vijay was down 2 set and in the third he was trailing 5:1 with La serving for the set.He bounced back like a phoenix bird and defeated and took India to the Davis cup finals. For record Inda played in the davis cup final without even a single player in the top 20 in the ATP.

4. Sampras
5. Mcenroe
6. Connors
7. Agassi
8. Edberg
9. Nadal
10 Wilander

where is the greatest Rod Lever dude..
Courier was worthless.. Samprs can never be in top position, since he was very very poor in clay..Roger is better than Sampras but Lever was the best..

Donno buddy, Jim Courier might not be in this list. Courier was a hard court player, similar to Guga who was a clay-courter (similarity - didnt really excel on other surfaces)

It can as well be Stefan Edberg. Even Gustavo Kuerten. Or Andy Roddick

Yes, Federer can.....
by Anurag Rathore on Feb 03, 2009 02:19 PM  | Hide replies

Federer will definitely equal or overtake the record of Sampras.
It will not happen against Nadal. He has to wait for Nadal injury or any other players(A.Murray, Verdasco, Tsonga, Djocovic) good performance who can quit Nadal before final.
It's sure Federer will reach in each GrandSlam final. But he has defeated mentally against Nadal, so he has to wait other opponent in final. He can't make it against Nadal. Everyone can see Federer is better player than Nadal but unfortunately his best doesn't come against Nadal. Federer did so many mistakes and his first serve was so bad but still Nadal won in 5 sets. That shows Federer standard.

I hope he will equal the record in Wimbledon this year.

Federer is all time best and has no weak point. A complete player who has set so many milestones for the new generation.

Best of luck to Nadal for his era.

Federer will sort out his problem against Nadal. He is just one win away from it. He is too talented to repeatedly go down to him. If Federer wins in paris against Nadal (which statistically is due by the way), the media will jump on the fed bandwagon and Nadal will lose his upper hand versus fed.

But what if he looses again? The way he played last final, I dont see Federar beating Nadal at clay court.

Eventually, he'll get the win. All matches, federer goes in as favorite. Even when on clay, there's pressure on whether fed can get that elusive french.
We don't know the reason why he played like that, but the hamburg and monte carlo final losses before that was just pure choking. He blew double break leads in sets and lost. This shows that he has the game to beat Rafa even on clay but there is some sort of mental barrier. He will eventually figure it out. All he needs is that one win.

Yah. i agree with you. Federer's win over nadal is inevitable. That too, in the near future. Someone of Federer's stature wont let a mental barrier like this scale him down for long. Federer will definitely triump, not taking credit from nadal, who if puts up shows like this, would definitely be counted as one of the greats, too.
