Federer should take tennis lessons from Sania.Just like Sania,he is a champion who's form has dipped. He should take guidance from Sania as to how she copes with teh stress and injuries and still manages to be a champion, while Fedex is losing miserably

Mats Wilander on Fedex..
by bango tango on Sep 07, 2008 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

Former Swedish tennis star Mats Wilander says he doubts Switzerland's Roger Federer will ever reclaim world number one spot from Spanish rival Rafael Nadal who usurped him last month.

"I do not believe Federer will be world number one again," Wilander said.

"That is due to the way the ATP rankings are calculated, because you have to be powerful week after week."

"If Federer wants to be world number one again, he will have to win lots of small tournaments and I don't believe that interests him."

"What he is interested in doing is winning the grand slam tournaments and beating Nadal," added the Swede, who won seven grand slam titles in his career.

Having won Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year, Nadal officially became world number one on August 18 this year and ended Federer's 237-week run at the top of the ATP rankings.

With both Nadal and Federer having reached the US Open semi-finals in New York on Saturday, Wilander, 44, says the hard-court surface of the Arthur Ashe Stadium is the Swiss star's best chance to beat clay-court king Nadal.

I think what Matts wilander is miunderstood, he isnt insulting federer, Even mcnroe said that the ATP have changed the points system where they are now giving importance to quantity than quality, like the more u play, the more points u can stack up. Federer is a guy who plays in the bigger stage, all these small tournaments doesnt matter to him anymore , also bcoz of his age, he now has to calculate and play so that he is available for the slams which is more important for him. This is what Wilander meant.

Who the **** is Mats wilander to comment on the greatest player who has ever played tennis... Mats might have won 7 Grandslams but was No 1 for 20 weeks in his life vs. Fedex 237 weeks... Grapes are sour Mats!!!.. If you are a loser, it doesnt mean that others would also be.. I think its disgusting that negative comments still keep flowing on fedex's ability to win grandslams or be No 1 again... I think wat Roddick said was correct... any player in this world except fed himself would be ready to take fedex's bad year..U need to look at Fedex from that perspective.. This guy is no ordinary mortal...he is surely gonna gain his no 1 ranking and blow away all possible recors.. 18 consecutive grandslam semis!!!! thats utter domination of a sport... Come on Fedex.. Silence all those "left over" critics who still believe that Fed is Over...

Who is Mats Wilander?Who the hell are you you moron.Take your meds regularly and you may get over your manic episodes.Mats Wilander is a respected tennis expert, a champion and grand slam winner many times apart from being no1 himself. He knows what he is talking. You, on the other hand, are a nobody.get over it.

Good for the game of tennis
by sriram krishnamoorthy on Sep 07, 2008 11:08 AM  | Hide replies

Its good for the game of tennis that the aura of invincibility of Federer is over. Nadal is the best as on date, going by his current form.Even his vulnerability was thoroughly exposed last night by Murray. Now, the best 4 in Men's tennis can be listed but the better of the four is difficult to predict, as anyone in the top four can be the world champion on his given day. Its still unfair to write off Nadal from US open semis as he is a serve up against Murray now in the third set. Who knows, he might crawl back to two sets all and leave it to the final set to decide who the winner is. We are fortunate to have the two greatest ambassodors of the sport in the form of Fedex and Rafa, who, inspite of their rivalry extending over four years have acknowledged each others strengths with dignity and magnanimity. All the post match conferences of each of these players have always ended with each showering praise on the other. Afterall, its good for the game of tennis. Hope everyone agrees with me.

agreed....it is really wonderful that now the top 4 players will be competing against each others as well as against other players knowing that any one of them can win the slam......it's great for the game....

dont write just for the sake of aruing. Who said anything against Fedex's stats. He is no doubt, an all time great. What is more important is that, in his poor run of current form, others are cashing in, which is good for the sport, as there is no one man dominance any more. Read the whole paragraph and then comment. I want your reply on this statement.

Did you see yesterday's matches?
Do you still think that Nadal is playing better than Federer?
The way he was playing yesterday, I really doubt that he will reach the final.

After yesterday's match, do you feel that Federer was playing well? If you carefully analyze the proceedings, its a play that was far from his usual potential. He missed so many of those trademark Fedex shots, like the crosscourt inside out forehand punch. Fedex won not because of his best performance, but may be because Djokovic did not play well. Fedex could have played much better. If it were like last year performance, Fedex would not have let Djokovic get the crucial break in the second set. There again, his trademark forehand drop shot let him down.
