we r so much obsessed with cricket and we identify national prestige with (British game)it. In today's news paper Dhoni playing with his pet cat becomes news. His hair cut becomes news. 365 days with cricket and 1 day for the hockey. Why no burning effigies today?

So True Ravitej. I guess too much of free publicity is being given to ONLY one particular sport at the expense of other sports in this country.
We should all collectively put our effort and pressure on the government to improve the sporting scene in India.
I mean, isn't India - a country of 1 billion people on the earth - capable of producing ONE Olympic Gold medal winning Sports person???
In a country where rs. 60,000 crores are waived off from farmer debts , why can't a budget shows 100 crores for hockey ? Why our politicians want to take every decision only for getting votes ? Chidambaram shd now allott funds like 100 - 200 crores for sport of Hockey & Govt. to dissolve the present IHF & shd appoint capable administrators.

i think india should ban cricket and promote hockey and foot ball. Cricket is a worthless game benefits for its organisers and players only. Viewers are fools the news of matching fixing reach to them only after the match is over. Hahhhaaahahha hockey/ foot ball up up cricket down down

u r true, cricket is sluggish and worthless sports which is not popular outside india..
but, if we want to improve india in sports then media, govt, and public need to improve..
It was just couple of months back when india won Ashian championship in Hockey, lot many media bloks attributed that success to inspiration from Chuck de almost discredeting the work done by the team and supporting staff. I want to ask why Chuck de couldnot repeat its magical inspiation again to take IH team to Olympics???? Shame on these people!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a bad day for Indian Hockey that it couldnot qualify for Olympic But I still believe lot of quality young players are around these days, only thing they have to be taken in right direction. It was a great miss for IH team not playing in olympics becoz this was a much much better team than many teams that represented India at olympics in the recent past.

Why can't BCCI take over IHF? Can GOVT. give such directive? After all with so much fund at their disposal, BCCI can do great things for Indian Hockey. They can call themselves BCHI-Board for Cricket & Hockey in India. Remove the word 'control', it sounds overbearing. Will Sharadji give a thought to this? Ofcourse the present bunch of 'horafukis'at IHF can scram fast.
Hi folks , i believe people have lost interest in hockey .It is similar to the west indies cricket where people do not wish to play cricket anymore since there is less fame and no money and sometimes failures also lead to the the decrease in interest level.I believe once the hocket team starts winning it will again generate the money and interest.After all we all liked the chakde movie
Hockey, our national sport is facing tough time even to qualify for the playing spot....Whereas cricket is generating money in trillions...Either government should increase Tax to lets say 50%, and divert the money to other sports, or else change our national game from Hockey to Cricket...
