Sania vs Molik (Doubles)
by rajesh r on Jan 22, 2008 11:45 AM

If you saw the match between Sania/Molik and Peer/Azarenka you would have got an idea of the sad state of Sania. I don't know why they were conceeding the points to the opponents. There was no co-ordination between the partners. Molik was looking like "lady Hayden" and Sania was looking like a girl who was enjoying her vacation at the court. Sania looked happy while conceding points. The match was between Sania and Molik, who will donate more points to the opponents?. Sorry to say that, but Molik-Sania looked like two distinct people with lot of attitude.

Define your goal first!

Sania should first sit and assess her strength and her career ambition. If she has any aspiration to become a better player in the singles arena then it'shigh time that she decides to fore go the double and mixed doubles events. Currently, it looks like money and fame are the only two things that drives her.

For a sports person like Sania who is not so athletic when compared with the other players in the circuit and also being a person who is frequently injury prone how does she think she can play in all three events at the same point of time. She had to play a doubles match and mixed doubles match the day before and on the same day where she had to play a giant like venus Williams. I would think Sania should have been taking her time off preparing for the big singles match. Instead, she was playing with Bhupathi and Molik and lost probably all her energy before the match with Venus.

Also, the style of play she adopts in doubles definitely can have an impact when she switches to singles in such a short span of time. It's better she decides where she wants to be soon or she can decide to quit. No point in continuing her career without a goal or focus. I think she has already made enough money.

Thats true to certain extend but its very common to play in singles and doubles one of the reason is that tennis is a lot more money centric sports u can earn lot of money but at the same time u need to spend a lot of money to travel and stay during various tournament. Another advantage is that while playing in double u can try out certain aspect of ur play which u have developed and fine tune it accordingly. I think with her serve we all know that it will be difficult for her to beat any top 10 players. Even she too know it but changes cann't be done overnight specially if its the way one had played most of the time

Mediocre results continue, as does the hype. What a shame

Do not keep saying BS like 'at least she has done so much, being an Indian'. Are these the low standards we have? Yes. If so, this is a shame.

People are laughing at her being a superstar in India. Commentators smirk, and the tennis media reports abroad keeps referring to her being an icon in India despite such zero success.

See the contrast! We are concerned so much 'bout World reaction to a Soul who has/ is trying to give popularity to a Sport beyond Cricket in India. But when we post abuses to her in a language which can hardly be termed "Cultural", we conveniently forget that the same World is reading them as well. So much for our Hypocrisy...
& by the way, nobody is laughing except fools like you 'COZ INDIANS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY OVERPOWERED BY CRICKET. NEVER CAN THEY THINK OR TRY TO UPLIFT ANY OTHER SPORT EXCEPT CRICKET. THEY WILL EAT CRICKET, SHIT CRICKET & DIE LANGUISHING IN THE GUTTER OF CRICKET ALONE.

They lost due to her bad play
by JustDoIt on Jan 22, 2008 04:50 AM  | Hide replies

Did you see yesterdays' match ?? Molick was playing pretty good. But Sania was totally out of form. She did so many unforced errors. Her % of first serve was so bad..In first set at 5-5 on her serve she allowed her opponent to get over them and couldn't hold her serve...

Though she lost, she has brought women tennis to the fore in India. I agree that she has become heavy headed (not only chested) bacause of all the adulation that she gets (not only for playing, but also beacuse of the glamour she brings in). But we do not have anybody to compete with her. This also shows that se*x sells. Since she is good looking (read se*xy), she attracts viewership. Why do you think our other sports women are not written about much. She is the se*xiest sports women in India.

ITs shame ur name appears to be of a girl. Sania is not about glamour. Look at the popularity of sports ur are comparing world over. Tennis is one of the sports which makes the player self sufficient though might not be luxuours just with its prize money. Simple question how many times u watch weight lifting and tennis irrespective of Indian playing or not. They are lot of beautiful women in sports too check out some of our hockey and cricket players but they aren't making good simply they go to international level but are not too competetive to win enough of the matches. None of the sportsperson barring cricketers have brought much fame to India as Sania has brought still people are ready to kill her

What about sports women like malleswari. Did she not excel in her sport? But she was not good looking. All I said that she is se*xy and plays the best tennis (though pretty lame) in India for now, so she is what she is now. It has gone into her head and she has become heavy headed. Have you heard her speak? She comes across as so arrogant. I think s*ex sells was not so prepostorous in her case.

the only three times wolrd boxing champian in her weight category. A rare feat achieved by any women in the world.

Agree but tell me do u know any boxing player except mohd ali to name. But for tennis u can spell more than dozen of names both in men and women circuit. So sania deserve to be what she is based on her merit.

It is not bothering me "noname." I support Indian to the hilt. I agree that she is the best that India has to offer in Tennis. But that she gets a lot more coverage than she deserves, just because she is good looking. Our other not-so-good-looking sports women do not get this coverage. Again this is because se*s sells.
