Both the games have its own position and standard. Football is the most popular games in the world. Word Cup football is 100 times popular than Olympic. Just imagine Countries like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay these names are just making us crazy like any thing. Because age after age Artists like Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo made us crazy.They are above all culture, religion and nations. They are the universal sports ambassadors. On the contrary Cricket has its own position and place. There are legends in cricket. People like Sachin Tendulkar or Brian Lara are sports Icon also. May be Cricket is not global game. But has its own respect.
So don't make any silly comments about both the games. Don't dare even to compare the both games and legends. Other wise you all are look like fools.Don't know from which Jungle you are coming.

Maradona won the world cup singlehandedly for argentina in mexico 86. agree there was his infamous hand of god but none of his team mates c'd be termed as exceptional. pele played in a team of garrincha, jarzinho, socrates and a load of awesome superstars and some say garrincha was a better player than pele. but just that pele was the striker.
the most phenomenal thing deigo ever did for me was taking napoli a team of very ordinary players from 2nd division in italy to the league champions in seria A next year. Serie A was then the best footballing league in the world with cash rich and politically supported teams like Juve, AC, Inter, Sampdoria, Roma and SS Lazio.
no man has ever done such a feat and for me theres no other Footballing GOD than DEIGO ARMANDO MARADONA.
yes he did take drugs, but that doesnt anything away from the exceptional things he did on the field and achievements which no football or any team sport guys other than Micheal Jordan can dream off including his hand of god.

i just started reading the comments in this thread. A few observations and inputs. 1)Maradona and Sachin - ask sachin and he w'd tell he grew up idolizing maradona and john mc enroe. maradona w'd never hav heard of sachin. i first heard abt maradona in 1986 and whn he won the world cup and first saw him play in italia 90. nobody in argentina w'd hav heard abt sachin and im sure he wont hav a single fan in latin america other than some frm the indian community.
2)cricket and football
crickets is just a colonial game whr the world has no interest, tahe south asia out of the equation and cricket w'd hav even less followers than chess.
someone here was saying that crickets a more intelligent, more technical and better to watch than football. thats simply absurd again after a match spanning 8 hours, tv channels here spend 2 hours of analysis of the game and using slow motions teach the public abt the technicalities. since all of us hav seen that we think that crickets more technical. a technique in football is much more complex and it can only be taught in the training grounds not on screen. probably football is the most technical sport where in u use ur whole body to control the ball and arms to giv u balance. the vision u need to hav in football is phenomenal thats y zizou, maradona, platini breed of midfeilders are too less in a pool of more than a million professionals playing the game.

football is undoubtedly the best game to watch else cricket w'd hav been much more popular and footballs termed as the beautiful game. just need to watch the game from the stands to understand the beauty of a pass, the formation the collective intelligence of its players
