True Champion
by santh thomas on Aug 01, 2008 08:07 PM  | Hide replies

Roger has certainly lost the champions edge.He didn't play badly against Karlovic but the big points are not going his way,as he is playing little tentatively on big points.Roger has to some how get out of his wimbledon hangover and try and get back that chmapions edge and find back his winning ways else his rankings and his career is going to take a free fall.

The true mark of a champion does not lie in not getting knocked down!!! but in getting up every time he gets knocked down and knock out the other guy(s).Federer is certainly on the canvas,it remains to be seen whether he can get up and knock out the other guys.Sadly even after 12 SLAMS he still has to prove he is a great champion!!!!

well...what i can infer from your statement is now roger has to even prove that he had been and is a great champion, forget about the greatest...that is something sad to hear and this is the worst any player who has won 12 slams could hear....i mean..he hasn't had a good year..but now he has to prove that what he did in the past 5 years was nothing but fluke...well this is like humiliating a great champion like him..

Federer's finished
by gokul dharmana on Aug 01, 2008 07:34 PM

Actually Federer's got the beautiful game. He is even more skilled than Nadal. But he's lost the mental battle against Nadal and is not confident. Whatever confidence he had left was lost when he lost on his favourite surface(grass) against Nadal. So it is not easy for Federer. Federer's finished. Long live the new king Nadal!

Yes, he has to come back, also all great had one bad season or bad patch federer is facing same, but do not worry in coming US open he will show his strength. All Good wish to Fedrer and for me he is only No.1. anyway Nadal is also very good player Though he is not matching Roger's Strength. But recent form and performance deserve no.1 for short season at least. Good luck too for Nadal

fedrer vs nadal
by aman randhawa on Aug 01, 2008 02:47 PM  | Hide replies

federer is my fav player...will always support federer if he plays against anybody...

but nadal is grt warrior....he is infact the ultimate warrior...salute to him...these all years it was the case who blink first...federer in wimbledon or nadal in french...ultimately its nadal who won that competition...

mind you, nadal is not crowds darling...everybody seems to be supporting the opponent whenever nadal plays againt any1...this is not the case with federer who always enjoys crowd support no matter how much he is winning...

well, federer may have lost couple of matches and we r starting counting him off.....but is it possible for an out of form man to reach two grand slam finals in a row...is it?...

the standard that fedrer has set for himself is making us think that he is declining....may be thats the truth, may be he is a bit off colour...who knows..

but at this moment, lets admit....its nadals time...he is playing awesome and he deserves everything, perhaps the no. 1 position as well

Just a bad year
by Prashant on Aug 01, 2008 02:02 PM  | Hide replies

Please don't write off Fedex. In his career it is just one(the only one) bad year. May be he will come back next year. Something is going wrong for him. I think it is the mental block. He is thinking as well as trying to do too much and that eventually lands him in no where.

We fans of him need to support him at this crucial time of his career.

And again...Rafa is playing out of the world. So if he will be no.1 at the end of the week, no body will be surprised.

Beside, there is not a much gap between no.1 & no.2.

i agree with you...what we are forgetting is....fed has not performed weel in just one year....evryone is bound to have this period in their career...you look at names of all the great champions..be it in any sport...one does passes through this kind of a period....but who knows later in the year, he might come back and be the dominant player he has been for so many years....

he might be finished or there still might be enough fire left in him.remember that he has been at the top for such a long period.every player has to hang his boots one day.but i feel that this is not the end of Fedex. He will come back with a bang.
