I dont think chess should be treated as cricket in the world, we can not compare with cricket, chess is only a one man game while cricket is a team game because chess does not get much attention while cricket gets bigger even 2% of cricket. Anyways Anand has done a great job we proud of him but expecting like cricket reception plz forget it.

chess is the only sports india can dominate and control the whole world... chess is a sports thats why anand has recd so many sportspersons award!
chess is a global sports played around 150 countries actively.. chess is included in asian games also... which bring 2 gold medals for india recently..
but cricket is not consider a sports thats why not yet included in the olympics.. cricket is a sluggish game thats why hardly few lazy country enjoy it...
chess is more popular outside india... dont b a frog of well..

I totally agree with you, Cricket is played by handful 12 countires and india struggles even to keep 7th or 8th position. I think from that point of view, In Chess we are far ahead of other nations.

Anand is a true champion of Chess, no doubt about it.Indian Grandmaster of the mind game! But what is all this hype n hoopla all about? Chess in India doesn't have a board like BCCI with thousands of crores in their bank balance! Chess is not a "mass sports". I am surperised that someone of his stature is expecting some kind of a 'rousing welcome' for him when he comes back to Chennai in October, similar to T20 heros! More over, India wins Cricket once in a blue moon and hence they celebrate it, unlike U, Vishy! Gold commands a high price and not steel,cos its a rare element!!

anand is undoubtedly india's no 1 sportsperson ever...
he is not demanding or expecting and never expected anything frm the nation.. he has only given honour to the nation and never expect anything in return...
its the media, who framed his word in the wrong way... shame on media... first they intentionally ask this question to anand... and now sensanalising it... the old game of media..
fyi, anand get more recognition frm spain got, media and public than india.. shame on the part of we indians...
we r less patriotic..
btw, anand is one of the richest indian sportsperson.. and hes already getting around 1.6 crore rupees frm this tournament

Dear Anand,u've just not won Chess Championship u've even won our heart!! I'm not saying this cos u r the CHAMP now but this is what i've felt as an INDIAN..
