High time for Media & Govt to act
by vijay kiran pothuraju on Sep 06, 2007 01:12 PM

This is very unfortunate thing to happen to a talented athlete like her. Sports authorities & Govt is doing nothing to give moral & financial support to her who hails from poor & rural background. Even media which glorifies cricket stars is not taking up required action to garner public & govt support by highlighting her issue. Media & Govt shud wakeup at least now by doing the needful & bring back shanthi to track. Its better late than never..

Poverty-Shanthi
by RAVI CHANDRAN on Sep 06, 2007 11:43 AM

Poverty and malnutrition was the cause for not getting enough harmones required for the declaration of her gender. She is not faminine only to the sports officials. Tamilnadu Government should continue to encourage her, in spite of sports officials' declaration and such news headings given by tainted minds - Kadirmadi, Bangalore.

Irresponsible media

There is no respect of true sportsman in this country. I do not consider cricketers, sportsman. Anyways the cause of shanthi was never carried forward by any media. They needed news when she won the medal and was later stripped. No Indian media has the guts to lead a cause to the end. At one time I considered NDTV ethical and genuine. But slowly its getting in the mould of aaj tuk and Star News.

Like Rediff is having a "Report Abuse" the readers should also be given an option to "Report Abuse" on Rediff's article. "SHAME ON YOU"
