But our politicians do not share the shame. They are very very happy as they and their close ones are making crores of money every year from FIFA, IOC and ICC.
God help India.

Correct. For media ranking and newspaper sell, all our media know is Dhoni, Sachin, Aishwarya and Bipasa. Horrible journalism.
Was there any debate on selection of national football team?
No.
But lots of news and blogs for cricket team selection.

Football requires corporate promotion
by Chrysanthemum on Oct 30, 2007 07:17 PM  | Hide replies

I am unable to understand why inspite of football being so popular with fans, there is practically no support from the corporate sector.
Football is afterall a sport that the entire world plays anda player who shines in it is truly a global sports icon recognizable from peru to phillipines, and all other countries in between.
When we can have ICL & IPL, why don't the powers behind these bodies actively marketing this sport.
I feel that since BCCI has done an increasingly good job in atleast selling cricket to the Indian masses, if not producing the quality that should have appeared given the amount pumped, still the BCCI could be given revamped into the football governing body in India and given the charge of promoting it. Atleast we can then utilize its legendery business skills in marketing it to our cricket obsessed fans. Starting as a side dish perhaps!
I truly dream of wearing an Indian shirt and supporting it in a Football World Cup! I hope it can be a reality in my lifetime!

This is why by giving the BCCI; by revamping it and handing it full reins to promote football, we may just get precisely that!

Anyone can understand your feelings. In India the only sport which is cared for particularly by Media is cricket. Today the Hon'able President and PM met the Cricket and Hockey team. Media was only concenrned with the cricket stars. what a tragedy.

that is why we are lacking. our fan do not bother who is responsible for indian football. it is AIFF not IFA. IFA is responsible for Bengal football only and they are at least doing good by conducting kolkata league. wake up mr saha.
