If what you said are true on Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, then, why both of them didnot win any of the Grandslam tournament in 'Singles Draw'?

its because of bollywood beauties who distracted them.
mahima chaudhary distracted leander paes and he couldnt practice well for grandslam.
anupama distracted bhupathi, otherwise, mind it..our hero tennisters will beat all the other rascala.

with due respect to leabder and pace abilities, they are no way near to federar, please do not even start discusing this. Its like comparing Sachin with some gally cricket opening batsman

It surely looks like all the talk of his successive defeats at the hands of Nalbandian and his first round stunner against Gonzalez sort of riled Federer. Besides, he actually wanted to prove it to himself more than anyone else. (I think he said as much).
And so he just unleashed his wrath through his sizzling game on his opponents. Poor Andy, poor Nadal and Ferrer!
I just wonder why he doesnt fire himself up during the French Open though ?
Is this the new kind of motivation that is needed for Federer? The occasional shock upset?
Because he certainly doesnt seem to struggle EVER on skills or on fitness.

I am sure it would interest the ardent tennis fan to learn what is Federer's fitness regime. Nadal, for all his biceps triceps and all, seems to struggle with his knees on hard courts.
Andy by his own admission is not the swiftest mover. I really feel that if Murray, Gasquet learn the game keenly and have more fire in their bellies, they will challenge Federer more.
Nadal is also young, but he needs to alter his game considerably and perhaps his physique as well to win over a variety of surfaces continuously.
A quick analysis reveals that Nadal has never been a serious challenge at either Australian or US Open.
As far as Djokovic is concerned, he has a very good game, but he needs to get over his choking ability to win a a major. Also, he stays too much at the baseline. It would be nice if he plays around the middle, like Federer so he can dictate shots.

Fired up for sure!!!!!!!!! How can anybody even have a chance with Federer in such supreme form.
Well the only thing remaining for Federer now is that elusive French Open title and seeing his hunger for such tournaments i am sure that nobody can stop him next year. Also next year is very important for Federer as he has already told that he will try and win the gold in Beijing olympics after failing to do so at Athens. So people get ready for a golden grand slam year for Federer next year

Federer's game in Clay is weak

Historically two handed backhand is required for the clay surface,Ivan Lendl is the last i rememebr to have own on French Open with a single handed backhand

I dont think Federer's game on clay is weak at all. This year, he won Hamburg Open on clay defeating Nadal in the finals. And he reached FO final in 06,07. So it is basically a mental issue. If Federer has any flaw it is that he is used to hitting the backhand a little too short, thus allowing a player like Nadal (and only Nadal, mind you) to take opportunities. But he seems to have mastered a more powerful Topspin backhand, which is an exceedingly difficult stroke, that could allow him to hit the corners more effectively. Also, he needs to mix up his game more effectively since clay allows way too much time for an opponent to slide and reach for a ball. So, some aggressive serve and volley may also help. Mind you, he CAN defeat NAdal from the back court as well, but he must be mentally prepared to slug it out to 5th set. Physically of course, I think he is perhaps fitter than anyone else in the game right now. All those annual sessions in the Dubai heat basically prep him up to play under extreme physical conditions. In fact, I think he realy feels confident of defeating Nadal more than ever, having notched up a spate of important victories this year. Now, if Nalbandian, on the other hand, troubles him, it would be interesting !! Federer is basically looking for a threat in 2008. As of now, there seems to be none. (Not in the top 8 atleast).

Federer is very far from others and his consecutive appearance in 10Grandslam finals proved it. Nadal is in the second level while all others Djokovic, Nalbandian, Andy Roddick, Ferrer, Hewitt, Safin, etc are all in 3rd level; once in a while these 3rd level guys could beat Federer (in his OFF day) but not have it in them to defeat Federer consequtively for more than twice. Andy Roddick is just one slam wonder and is very highly overrated/hyped player; in fact, James Blake is much better player than Roddick. Safin got lost his class/form after winning his 2005Australian Open and he could never be the same as in 2000/USOpen. Same is true with Lleyton Hewitt. Nalbandian doesnt hv any consistency. Djokovic is a upcoming player but he talks a lot unnecessarily. These 3rd level players need to learn a lot from Federer.

Federer won in hamburg, a favourite court of his anyway because the bounce there is in his "hitting zone".

in the RG courts, the bounce is more difficult and hence nadals heavy top spin forehand to the federer's high backhand proves very effective. that's what results in those short balls for nadal. Traditionally one handed backhand is weakest in these area. its a strategy nadal has used to kill federer on clay courts and slower hard courts as long as the bounce suits him.
federer is clueless about how to counter it and so is everyone else.
