Kudos to Anand for another "good day at office". Coming to the north-south furore created by some, I must say people have misplaced understanding and often emotion choke the reason. There is no such thing as north Indians not liking Anand. Any north (also east and west) Indian who knows chess, likes and respects Anand. It's simply a matter of him not being in a demonstative sport like Cricket. Very few people know more than winning/losing in chess. They don't understand the Rf7 and e5, so they don't get involved. Naturally, they can't celebrate a brilliant Rf7 same way as a sixer (which is more easily understandable). Doesn't mean they don't respect it. A small question to the southie custodians. If you know Rajni and Anand are going to meet public in two different places of Chennai, where do you think more crowd would be? I know the answer, it's Rajni and that's because Rajni is in a more demonstative art form called cinema and it has nothing to do with regional affiliation (Anand is in fact more Tamil than Rajni). So, guys don't get carried away, apprecite Anand's succsses and don't abus others.

I agree with some of your points. Besides being a less demonstrative sport and media coverage in India limited to metros people some overlook Anand's magnificent achievements. He is as good or better in chess as Sachin Dravid or Sourav is in cricket. In fact Anand will continue his domination and can comfortably be hailed as the modern legend in Chess.
But i do not completely agree with your views on the north south divide. There might exist narrow minded north and south Indians who put regional allegiance ahead of his pan India stature and then start abuse the others for not respecting, or being not subtle enough to understand the sport etc. But to restrict the regionalism to just north - south bashing clouds the view. Regionalism is integral to our society and culture, we cannot ignore it. Feeling being superior is ones own inferiority, no one can help it.
So rather than being a wise head and then try to solve the issue with some wise words its better ignore it.

i see all your messages guys but theres nothing to argue about i think its our society is not aware of what they want it is just like a dead people around. But real to say anand is really a great sportsman and he is getting enough respect from people(i never said indians) who understand wat game is. have nice day to every have fun friends.
