Although this has been due for a long time... an official ranking is just an icing on the cake... kudos for your immaculate concentration and consistent achievements over all variants of the game and against most of the top opponents!!! We are proud of YOU... as the saying goes... Success isnt a destination, it is a journey... Wish you carry on this consistent performance and maintain your World No.l Ranking... GOOD LUCK!!!

Keep it up Anand

Make it to the top is very difficult if not impossible. But more difficult is to retain the position once to reach the top. But good wishes from all of us are always there for you.

Why it took so long ?
by Sandeep Nibber on Apr 04, 2007 03:09 AM

If this were a cricket news, over 3000 posts might be flying on it, that goes on to show that we are still not interested in genuine sports except entertaining ones like cricket. Full kudos to not only Anand but also to K Sasikaran, and K Humpy who make Indian Flag appear at foreign posts. My heartiest wishes to him. If chess had even 10% of money as cricket has, we would have many number 1s by now. BTW why Anand couldnt become #1 was because the greatest player of all time in chess, Kasparov was Anand's contender. As long as Kasparov was there, Anand couldnt become either world #1.

After Anand becoming World Number 1 and India being kicked out of the World Cup in a shameful manner, the writing is on the wall ...

Anand is a very humble guy and didn't want to create an unnecessary chaos by raking up the buried issue.

We met Anand during Mainz Classic Tournament in Mainz, Germany. We cherish the photographs with him.

Congrats Boss. You made all deligent Indians proud. While the cricket crazy country follows no other game than the bunch of motley cricket teams, you have silently acheived the No.1 position in Chess without the glare of media and public. Hey, fellow Indians, lets put our hands together to salute this special genius.
