Oh-so-stupid-people, the Linares are the Oscars of the Chess world just like the Olympics are the Oscars of the sports world, Ms.Universe is the Oscars of the Bimbo world, the Nobel is the Oscars of the Intellectual world. Oh and the Fields Medal is the Oscars of the Maths world.

Linares is not the Oscar of the chess world. There is such a thing as a chess Oscar, and Anand has won it 4 times starting 1997.

It is as clear as day that racism was involved in not including the Linares points in deciding who is number one. It is Anand's good nature that he has tried to stifle a racism row by coming out in FIDE's defense. There is no precedent of not including the Linares points in calculating the April rankings. Good job by AICF and chess fans the world over for making the right noises which made FIDE see reason and climb down.
It is high time that media and public should focus their attention to other sports also. Please maintain this rank. Heary congratulations on your acheivement
