I was a very sad news about the was of V. P. Sathyan's demiss, I think AIFF is responsible for it. Priyaranjan Das Munshi should be asked for the explanation why the are paid only peanut in comparisson to BCCI. National League is a big failure to atttract sponser and why 10 teams should play, atleast their should be around 16 teams in 1st division and 16 more in 2nd division and qualifier should be of another 16 teams. This way India will get pleanty of footballers.
I am sad for his family. This is not the way a good contributor to indian sports's life must end. It is indeed sad to note that many sathyan are lost into ignobility once they retire from any sport other than cricket. But all said and done anybody who commits suicide and leaves his family in distress is a coward.
V P Sathyan\'s death is a tragedy. He was one of the best defenders India has produced. He was well built and used to win many physical challenges. The Nehru Cup matches against Cameroon was one his bests I guess. Its a pity that good footballers like him have to take such a decision due to povery.
Kerala tops the suicide rate in India. And the reasons are so trivial at times. It's mostly due to comparison with the neighbours. One guy might have got a job in the Gelff (Gulf!), and his wife starts throwing her weight around in the neighbourhood. The neighbours wife starts pressurising him, and eventually things come to such a stage, all of them commit ritual suicide.
It was a great team when Sathyan, IM Vijayan, Pappachan, Sheraf ali, Chacko.... all were playing for Kerala / Kerala Police team. And their name itself was enough to make the opponent team a fear in their mind.
I feel so sad to hear this shocking news from T.V. He was such a good player as well as a well mannered person with out any contraversies in life. But i didn't expect a cowardly act from such a great player, he should not have done this. My request to all the good sportsmen in the country not to take such decisions in your life and pls. don't let yourself to fall in bad habits.
