Its not a surprise that Italy has come so far with a magnificient game plan, though they had some heart-beating moments against Australia. However it was surprising that they were not even listed among the favorites for this world cup by most. Truely, they have the world's most sought after defence led by Cannavaro and the best goal keeper in Buffon. No matter they win the final, they have silenced all their critics
a majority of the ppl do not like the german team to win. but i have been a ardent fan of the germans right from the 86 world cup. i really appreciate the way they fight and win. no matter they dont posses the skill like many teams but the fighting spirit they have is comendable. look at brazil lots of awesome players but they have no team or fighting spirit. football is not a one man show like ronaldo or ronaldihno or tom dick and harry. i really want the germans to win this time.
This time the cup will be claimed by portugal against either germany or france,if they play without yellow cards,as alrady they have enough yellow card for theri fame...
I have to say 1 thing, all the 4 semi-finalist have very good luck, so its impossible who will depending on the luck, argentina were better than germany, brazil were better than france (spain better then france , 1 goal was off-side, 3rd goal wrong foul), england were better then portugal, italy should not have been in the Q/f Australia. now germany should be the favourite if they reach the finals.

Germany is playing well, really well to be in the finals and even to win the cup.
But somehow, on having seen France rise from a poor start and Italy scraping through a lucky "gifted" penalty in the last minute against Australia, I foresee a surprising final between France and Italy.
Between France and Italy, the most lucky among them may win the cup. If France's strategy, penetrative attack, and a virtually impenetrable defence does not take them to a victory, Italy could be the luckiest winner.
But right now, they both seem (by luck and trend) to be destined to be the finalists, atleast
They are not black horses. They have just played their normal game. It is the other big crowns who didnt played upto the expectations. Italy all the time favourites in the final are came with the best forward line up including luca toni.They've just played like the champions as they are 3 times.Italy have always their mark in the list of finalists. So please dont use BLACK HORSES to name them . Use the term THE GREAT WALL. For conclusion "Boring but Brilliant!"
italy were not dark horses for this 2006 fifa worldcup soccer. In the league mtches they had struggled to win matches. the match against usa was one of the match which they struggled by kicking the ball in their own goal.the score were leveled 1-1. now italy is in the semis.against germany. the german team has won consistenly all matches and it is their home ground. so germany may win. but one cannot predict as france beat brazil so any thing can happen. plus the way italy defeated ukraine 3-0 anything can happen. they have solid defense.
Yes, italy may win the world cup, as they are unbeatable till date. Their defence and attack is as good as Germany and Brazil. Italy is the mixture of these two teams, hence they may win.
