Mr. Mittal is attempting to do, what our Indian Government should have done long back. In this country, Cricket is Life and Cricketers are demi Gods (inspite of being only 7th ranked in the world of 12 International recognized cricket playing nations) and get all the recognition, publicity, rewards and money. The other sports have been constantly ignored by the government, sports bodies and as well as WE people. There is no recognition, no rewards (in comparison with Cricketers) for these sports persons not even encouragement, and it is unfair to expect these billion plus population to produce medalists at Olympics or Asian games. I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Mittal for his selfless initiative to make our Country a force in the world of sports. This should be a cue to our government and many other Indian business tycoons to play their bit for our mother country, to make this Great INDIA a formidable force in Sports. Hats Off to Mr. Mittal !!!
The chief of Mittal group really deserve a big applause for his efforts in realising the Indian talent.Yes, we do have great talents in India who just go un notice because of financial constraints. And also the trustees of the board are the champions who have indeed made a great name in style. The other big banners also must come a head and follow suit. Hats off to the concept and I wish the players a very all the best.Iam already seeing a cluster of gold medals hanging proudly around the necks.
I think it is an excellent gesture by an Indian at heart who has made his millions abroad. I wish other Indians at heart follow his example. He is on the right track and has got some of the best people to take this move forward. I have interviewed two Indian Junior Wimbledon Champions (50 years apart) adn also Premjit Lal a few weeks before he met with that tragic train accident two decades ago. One of the tings he told me is "The Arjuna Award is just another decoration on my mantel" There is no point in expecting anything from the government to promote sport in this country. It is for the people to take the lead- thinking people who can do something. Ministers and babus are a class apart. They become one with the society only after they are 'out' or retire!
Thank u Mr.Mittal..........it was really both generous n bold of u, to have invested such a whopping amount on the indian sports. After the recent loss of Mr.Sunil Dutt, our Sports Minister, we thought our sportspersons will not have enough gas to fire at the Beijing Olympics......but u have ignited our hopes again.......hoping that your( and our) dreams of India being recognised as a standout nation at the Olympics will soon trun real. ONce again, Thank u Mr.Mittal. ......an Indian.
kudos to mr L.N. MITTAL for initiating such a thing in india (though SAHARA was doing something of this kind ).This kind of efort is required from a country like INDIA where the govt. doesn't do a bit for sports. Most of the achievement are due to personal initiative and enthusiasm. The corporates should come ahead and make their contribution to make INDIA more succesful regrding sports. The govt.should also give tax reliefs for contribution above a particular amount invested in sports. keep up the good spirit
This is definitely a breakthrough in indian sports after independence. Now we should see that the right financal assistance should go to the right person. The functioning of the trustee is also important. They should put enough time and effort to find out the talent and groom it.
Atlast some respite to indian sports and the talented sportsperson.. unlike having some foundation to spot and coach upcoming talented sportsperson, our corporates spend crores and crores on sponsoring already famous and rich sportsperson. I hope this foundation would recognise and value talented people and will be free of politics or bias. Let us have more such foundations and spot sportsmen at a very young age to groom them with the goal of winning several gold in the olympics and world championship. Let us train them with 2012 olympics as a goal.
let indian sportsperson shine and win laurels for us. Thanks to Mr.Mittal for having such a thought of his home country.
