A flawed genius!... A cheat... Drug adict... And the author gives his verdict also before the poll that Maradona is a candidate for second place... What nonsense?... I see soccer day in and day out before and after Maradona. Soccer is not about these information for me it about those magic moments, which cought me breathless... Still pulls tears out of my eyes when I recap them... The little man ruled the field... he danced on the soccer field... I can't even emagine that how better it could have been. I salute Pele as a player who was genius in the field. But Maradona was simply 100%. This is just about soccer and I don't care about the rest. I am not voting here as Maradona is bigger than all these. Just one thing about the 'Hand of God' goal. Dear friend if you see soccer at least occationally, you will see it happening in every match. I have seen all the greats, including Pele, trying to cheat on the field.
I believe there was just one legend and that is Pele. Maradona, came close. In footballing terms he is perhaps even better than Pele, but as an overall player and person, he can't be in the same class. Further I find it shocking that players like Zico, socrates are not mentioned. And lastly Platini is leagues ahead of Zidane, period.

In one of the world cups when argentina played Brazil in the knockout stage, the whole match was dominated by Brazil and the genious was marked by two to three defenders, but at the closing stage,the way he pulled the entire brazilian team towards him and gave a blinder of a pass to canigia which was then scored was probably the best i have ever seen, incidentally the same brazilian team was considered to be the alltime best team.If the whole team can get flunked by one individual, do you require any debate on who is the best, UNDOUBTEDLY MARADONA IS THE BEST.
There is no one to defeat Maradona. His Body Movements, Dodging , Sudden turning flexibly is such an art no one can do it even by takin drugs. Maradonna is such a gift to football and I miss this genius to watch paying. He is one man show. Pale had lot of support . Maradona is all alone. I wonder if God will ever create another Maradona in this age. When I meet him in heaven I can tell Him " Maradona I am from 21st century and enjoyed your foot ball . There wasnt any body like you in that century.
The choice is between Pele & Maradona obviously but where Pele had a great team to support him, Maradona did whatever, single handedly including winning 1986 World cup, that would surely place him ahead of Pele.
