well dhanraj you dont need to prove anymore, well all said and done, you have gained a height where everything looks so small, well you are the most brillant player i ever saw playing other that shabaz kahn of pakistan, and i am 26 now!! well sadly its was your last olympic but then i think you have done your best and now time has come when you should hang your boots gracefully.
Sir, As a sportsperson you have proved yourself beyond doubt. The treatment given to you only reflects the thoughtless and selfish approach of the management. The result though depressing was a fitting one for the team and the management who chose selfishness over professionalism. We have once again proved the concept of the "Indian Frog Mentality" right. My respect for you has only increased after the current episode.Being a journalist I shall do everything within my power to use the masses and the media to highlight the injustice metted out to you.
its really sad that dhanraj had to go through all this.it can never encourage the sports in india. there is no doubt that dhanraj as a player is outstanding and his contribution to indian hockey is also outstanding.why dont some ill-willed people in the sports not ready to give him his due credit. why are the authorities in sports demoralising the players.its to be understood that the players are the ones to play on the field and not the sports officials.the sports officials are to support the well being of the players and not pull their legs.anyway no one can deny that dhanraj is a great hockey player.he looks still better than the others.
Dhanraj, u have been a great force in Indian Hockey for more than a decade. You still seem to have some of ur mercurial moves that u had in the past. But, I guess it is time for you to retire in a graceful fashion. IHF is trying its best to tarnish your image, if not they had already. Indian administrators don't have the grace to give good send-offs to its heros. Be it cricket, hockey etc.. and u are one more in the list. Let us all start learning to respect and appreciate the efforts of people like Dhanraj and not curse him.
Reddy , u r one amongst the hopeless lot who put in their comments without knowing what it is. Did u c all matches India played ?? not one apart from Dhanraj and Adrian displayed any international class, if u dont consider the inconsequential last match against S.Korea one could even say India looked more like a club team , all bcos of the poor trapings by Gagan Ajit Singh , individual play by Prabhujot and horrible defence by Sandeep and Harpal . Against Aussies Dhanraj had played his heart out , same against Argentina. So one could easily say he ws the BEST among the WORST !!
It is a sad and disgrace for the Indian Hockey that a stalwart like Dhanraj Pillai who has represented India for 4 World Cup and 4 Olympics is treated in such a manner. He was not even allowed to play his last match for whole duration.
Dhanraj Pillai can still play good hockey and is a role model for the other players. He has always played his heart out and given a splendid performance. One can understand that at this Olympics he was playing against tremendous pressure rom the bosses of the IHF. He was not even selected for the Olympics and only when there was a public furore, he was considered as the IHF were made to bend down by the press and the masses.
I strongly feel that Dhanraj can play for another 4 years. If someone has to go, that it is Mr. Gill, the boss who thinks that IHF and Indian Hockey is his property. Why can't that man resign and give someone else a chance who is a committed man. What is he doing as the Chief? He is responsible for the downfall of Indian Hockey?
What we require now is committed people to take charge. I think, our Sports Minister, Mr. Sunil Dutt should intervene and see that the downfall of Indian hockey is arrested.
Dhanraj deserves all the humiliation. He was an empty vessel making the most noise. he has never won a world cup or olympic. callin him a legend is a farce.......

Santosh, while the intial post is a bit extreme he does have a valid point. It does not matter how good you/world think you are if you ain't got a medal to show for it .
No doubt Dhanraj is a world class player but what has he won us. Nowt is the answer.
