Athletes deserve athletes. The Russians, Americans and the Chinese do not have a system to contend with, unlike in India. Thus every medal that India wins is worth its weight in gold. If Anju could not get a medal it was because she had the system to contend with. It was because somewhere someone in the administration was not discharging his or her duties. And I would not be surprised if that someone had found his or her way to the plane to Athens. Second, get the politicians out of the sport. These are the guys who allot areas meant for playgrounds to builders and constructors (?). Finally, are we a sporting nation? I don't think so. We are quite happy to see our children at the study table rather than at the playground. Why? Because we think they do not have a future in sports. If Anju was an American I don't see why she wouldn't have won. The same goes for Lee and Hesh. And who knows, Major Rathore would have won the gold. Now the politicians will debate in parliament (if BJP allows that) about the dismal performance. But they will forget one thing:
At the end of the day, athletes are supposed to compete with athletes, and not the system meant to support them.
Hi Anju, I can understand how disappointing you would be but you should be proud for representing our country and participate in olympics..so what if you have not won a medal YOU ARE OUR HERO Anju.. Its a shame for a country like India for not having enuf facilities to back up atheltes like you.. Am sure India can shape up thousands of brilliant atheletes like you if only our gr8 politicians bother spending some money for sports..If so then america kya uska baap ko bi hum hilake rak denge
Anju did her best in the finals..what ever she could do she has done except that she was bit nervous and we should be proud of it.I wish her all the best for the future.
I totally understand the immense pressure the atheletes go through at olympics and every athelete competing there deserve the praise. But there is no need for credit or consolation in defeat. It takes the grace (or whatever that is of worth to an athelete after a defeat) out of defeat. I don't think anju pines for any sympathy...if she can she will win the medal next time.
This is a horrible performance by India. Anju is just a athelete and not a world class athelete.
IT is failure of Hindu people and policy of non-violence.
We worship a cow probably 2nd dumbest animal after sheep. We must be dumb. India should not even participate in these games until we become internationally competitive.
PT Usha is hundred percent right on her concern over Indian authorities and their suspicion over Anju's capability. We should provide Anju with every support to ensure that she succeeds in the Beijing Olympics.
India lost the 4*400 metres, but I am proud of these 4 girls ,the credit goes to R.kaur and manjit kaur, inspite of little support from Govt these girls were fantastic, way to go girls!!! boys and the indian cricket team must learn something from these girls who really fought their way to finals.Instead of glorifying our crickrt team Govt can put in more money in training the best athelets like these girls who give their life for sports.Listen to people like PTUsha who is one of the best we have had in our country.three cheers!!!
