Anju : will she do it?
by Viswanath on Aug 27, 2004 11:57 AM

Dear Usha

Your article on Anju was good, and few years before people would have said, that after usha, its the end of the road.

The way Anju finished was really good and it was a cool and composed effort, and no signs of panicking or exertion. My mind tells me that she will pick any of the medals.

I wish Anju the very best!

With best wishes
R.Viswanath

Agree with Usha's View

I too agree with the views of Usha, as the sport in which Anju is participating is such that performance can be different any day, so i am hopefull about india ending these olympics with 2 medal.

Too Optimistic !
by Sarnath on Aug 27, 2004 07:42 AM  | Hide replies

Usha,

You sound too optimistic. When her personal best is well below the other competents, I dont even think of a bronze for her.

Who knows? May b she can master her own records and Hopefully we get a medal.

You sound to be ridiculous for me, the problem with our Indians is we are so negative in thinking. She clearly mentioned that Anju may deliver her carrier best to get a medal for us. Letz cultivate positive thinking atleast avoid spreading negative waves. You can't just critize just sitting in front of your computer. ANJU WILL WIN OUR FIRST GOLD METAL.

It is sad that some of our own countrymen are spreading such sarcastic and pessismistic comments. This "drain inspector attitiude" needs to be cut out if we want our athletes to progress. Our country needs to stand firmly behind these brave warriors who represent it at the ultimate sporting event.

Re: Timings to suit Americans?
by ss on Aug 27, 2004 03:37 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the olympic events are often held between 8pm and 12 midnight. This is the most convinient time for people to watch, as they can come from work and then unwind at the venues. It is stupid to suggest that they are doing that to make sure Americans can watch tv. Infact NBC, which is the local broadcaster in the US, shows all the events during primetime (8-12) with a delay of 6 - 8 hours. The 100m, 200m and swimming and gymnastics are not shown live in the US. There is a deffered coverage. I think Usha should get her facts right before she makes some stupid suggestions and starts protesting.

You check your facts first SS. Have you ever been to an Olympics as a participant to say that events are always held between 8pm and midnight? Don't argue simply because you can.
