India's performance at Athens
by vijayakumar on Aug 24, 2004 03:11 PM

Yet again, indians except Rathore failed miserably in olympics. it is the scenario which we were used to. The indians were no where near the winners. some of our runners almost finished last. We talk about these only for two or three days or hardly a month after olympics, we forget these after that. Lot of work has to be done in our infrastructure in terms of training. And we need to get more sponsors also. In USA, they have university for sports itself, where we could hardly see any sports in the universities itself.

And for this hockey team, they should not be allowed to come back and they should be fined severly for such a pathetic show. They can't be forgiven.

we want more shobhas and binus.inspite of their limited taloents, they made us proud.unfortunately,we are getting more malleswaries and pratima kumaris.while shobha made us proud(andhra people),malleswari brings shame.if they are not fit,why should they go athens with ordinary people's money.are they tourists or sports persons.

refreshingly honest article....
by himansu on Aug 24, 2004 01:05 PM

I like the honesty with which you put across your points. Its really refreshing read. Your article echoes my feelings of pride when an Indian athlete gives his/her best and of shame when they perform irresponsibly. But the great Indian hope floats...

Are we going to learn from our mistakes
by Sanjeev on Aug 24, 2004 12:11 PM

Performing poorly in the Olympics has not become a habit for us. Are we just going to talk about this when its hot news or is any body going to do something about it.

Guys do something!

Sanjeev

Needs Change !!
by kishore kumar on Aug 24, 2004 11:38 AM

I'm here to say that there should be a change in the hockey players position. They must be placed in their previous positions itself, so that they can put their efforts to the utmost.

It's really a shame
by Biswajit Nanda on Aug 24, 2004 10:03 AM

Dear Usha....
U are 100% right. Indian hockey has lost it's way right like the IHF administrators. It's really hard to beleive dat ours is the hockey team that has won gold medal in Olympics eight times. It's really a shame... The find of this Olympics are Binu, Shobha and Major Rathore. I just wanna congratulate for their performance and wish them all the best in future.
