Dear Mr. M,PRABHU KUMAR ,
If I'm the Marketing exec. of Pepsi, certainly I'll not sponsor to Anju. A women athelet, whom no more than 10 crore people are knowing in India !!! Where as even the kid Irphan Pathan, 90% of Indian's are knowing, so by sponsoring cricket I'm getting more publicity than Anju. Mr. Prabhu, it is not the sponsorer, or Govt. responsible for our poor performance in Olympics, it is public only. If more public/parents are taking intrest in athelits, sponsorers will come to Anju's door too. Even govt will support more than what now, bcoz they need votes. Yesturday night I didn't sleep till Anju jumped for qualifying at 1:00 am. But can u guess how many Indian's were watching, certainly no more than 1 crore, but if it would have cricket atleast 30 crore would have seen, I'm not the anti-cricket personality, like others crikcket is my passion too. People should think sports as a carrier Good bye
You know nothing about sport

Anju doesn't need sponsors she needs a kick in the back. There are enough sponsors for Anju. Companies paid her 30+ Lakhs to get training and coaching. But she saves that money and keeps her husband as a coach instead of hiring Mike Powell under whom she won a bronze in Paris. After parting with Mike Powell her performance is dismal and don't go by the heading of the article, what Usha (another loser) is saying is that she doesn't stand a chance realistically speaking.
And why not watch cricket that is only the other sport apart from chess where we are second best though few nations only play. And when more nations start playing we'll probably be known more.
The heading says she can do it. The body of the article says not likely. But the fact is Anju is not going to win a medal, Why up our hopes foolishly. She's 27 and the fact that she chooses her husband to coach her "Because he knows me more than anybody" over someone like Mike Powell (Does her husband know more than Mike Powell about long jump though ?) was private acknowledgement of the fact that she doesn't expect to win besides making those "report-friendly" messages. When will our sportsmen realize that to win an olympic gold needs 200% effort and slipping on even small things like the choice of coaches and practice equipment are enough to thwart our chances. You have to know everything about winning the gold and you have to do everything about it too.
To stand on the medal podium is a combination of talent, ability, self motivation, patriotism and so many more factors and above all it is necessary to dream to achieve what is needed.
Anju has dreamt it and has the right training/support to achieve it.
Lets wait and see and statistics do fall wayside....or else Leander cannot beat higher ranked opponents and neither can Iraq win football matches without training ground and facilities. Where there is a will there is a way.
absolutly. i m fully agree with PT usha's statement because Anju is one of some hopes of India in Athens. i think Anju is very big hope for India. thanks!
I hope that Anju is able to prove all doubters wrong because we really really need an olympic medal whatever the hue.The quest for an olympic medal is long due and should be the top priority if we want to host the olympic in the near future. Realistically speaking do we have the body type to succed at athletics why not find the right pool of talent blessed with the right body type and train them scientifically. The chinese are masters of this game and we should copy there technique.
It is good to be thinking realistic. If anju can put that 'FOUL JUMP' scare behind her and charge ahead she is hte one to be remembered for ever .I want to send all my positive vibes to her to do THAT. I agree with usha's views... 6 more jumpers ahead of anju... being already there. but she can still do it at the nick of the moment lalitha
