Apex Court Verdicts
by Subramaniyan Narayannmurthy on Sep 28, 2018 06:00 PM

Politicians with criminal background can contest. LB can be practiced. Adultry is not crime. Wife is not the property of husband. What next? Anyone can live like he thinks without minding the society. All that could be done within four walls could be done in open ground.

Rahul Eswar is right

Justice Indu Malhotra is the only judge who gave a fitting retirement to CJI Deepak Mishra. After K G Balakrishnan it is the turn of Deepak Mishra. What better retirement can he get from the only Woman Justice. Her resentment is tight slap on his face spilling a few teeth. This judgement with the only lady justice resenting shows this judgement had the political backing of the Congress, Communists and the Christian lobby which is losing ground all over the world. Wishing Rahul Eswar the very best.

Women's entry into Sabarimala Temple
by Sane Voice on Sep 28, 2018 05:46 PM  | Hide replies

Great judgement by SC. SC has set right decades old injustice perpetrated on women. A devotee with true devotion will not be perturbed by the presence or absence of women in the temple. People like Rahul Eshwar always keep on making lot of noise just to attract attention. Let RE file review petition. Nothing is going to come out of it. It is for the temple authorities and government to ensure no untoward incident happens.

See now all the communal culprits unite to maintain their legacy and hegemony. This is the time when real fight begins between rationalism and radicalism.

In this case it is not communal culprits uniting to maintain their legacy and hegemony... You are climbing up the wrong tree...in your enthusiasm to register yourself as a very broad minded intellectual.

Exactly !

They remained silent when a raxpist bishop tried to evade the law !

They remain silent whether it is the hyndu religious hierarchy or the chrittin one or the muxlim one that violates human dignity and the law of the land !

All these hyndu and muxlim and chrittin zealots need to be dealt with the highest degree of firmness and made silent !

And slowly, their hold over huge resources (that were built up by fooling gullible worshippers) should be loosened and those worshippers need to be made aware that they should never give a single rupee for the upkeep of any temple or moxq or chuxrch !

Inconsiderate judgement
by pradeep kumar nair on Sep 28, 2018 03:32 PM  | Hide replies

Rahul Eshwar is very right. Religion and faith all are important aspects in Indian society. without these there is no India. These are part of our culture and person without these are to be considered cultureless. There are some rules made by every religion and all person who have faith in that religion follows it and uphold its sanctity. Those who do not have faith create all kinds of problems. All the women who know about this temple will not go even if SC has given permission, because they know that they have to uphold its sanctity.

Sir, the women who you say wouldn't go there even if the SC permitted, won't go there for the fear psychosis the society has instilled into them for over years, and for nothing else. This was the same situation with Sati, child marriage, caste-ism which even avoided some people from coming infront of some so-called 'upper caste' (sic) - all in the name of religion and when these rules were struck down from time to time, people who were subjected to these for decades still were fearing to exercise their rights, but over 2 generations things get rationalised and now mostly there is much order and calmness in the society. The reason for several religions and sects born out of India, breaking away from Hinduism was the sheer feudal mindset that the proponents of Hinduism put forward to prove their own ego by suppressing others in the name of religion. Dont mind when I say, religion is the biggest obsessive compulsive neurosis that has gripped the humanity. When you say "without these important aspects.. there is no India...", please do not forget this country embraced Sati, child marriage etc for centuries and thought that without that part of the culture we wouldn't be anywhere - Don't forget the sheer resistance the aristocracy paused to the British Govt who tried to abolish these from time to time! Rest assured, the women who won't go to these temples now will be happy seeing their grand daughters going to these temples as people would have forgotten the celibacy sto

Rest assured that women will start going on pilgrimage to the Sannidhanam in a trickle, then in a steady stream and finally in almost as big a torrent as the men !

Sati/child marriage etc are social evils which instills physical/mental harm to individuals. That is not the case here. Here nobody is hurt by any means. I strongly believe that religion and its rules should not be interfered by courts. Because that will hurt the masses. All the religions which are followed in India are part of our culture. If courts start interfering in these, then it will hurt sentiments of the people. If this continues then a state may come when we'll go to court for deciding the religion of newborn child. This issue have been hyped by some atheist who want to create disturbance in the minds of people and enjoy looking on.

Deity's rights?
by Murali Krishnan on Sep 28, 2018 03:26 PM  | Hide replies

"We are only vouching for the deity's rights"? What is a deity's right? What is a deity and who authorises these people to 'define' and 'protect' deity's rights? How long will humanity take to understand what we stand and fight for today are all some stories which got handed over to us over some years - The Ayyappa story specially is not 'thousands' of years old as the base of the story is approx 800 years old - But we have a great ability, anything that is a little blurred, we will redefine and make look like thousands of years old as if anything above a thousand year old is 'divine'. This guy Rahul Easwer is a hypocrite and makes contradictory statements on issues that are mostly irrelevant. What is he trying to protect here? Does he even know the actual reason why such practices came into existence - apart from the junk celibate story? These are the religious extremists who create problems and who don't allow the country to reach anywhere. Hes wasting time of the judiciary for a "deity's rights" where there are hundreds of thousands of pending cases related to living beings' rights in the courts across this country. Will he now say Deities need ration cards, PAN cards, passports and voter cards as these are also rights, who knows deity's ration and other privileges are blocked for want of these?

If you follow any religion and have come across any temples, then ask the priest there what are deity's rights. If you don't understand, then try to find them, understand them and then comment.

Been there, done that, studied a lot, tried to understand and correct - still trying to correct the missing links. The uneducated, biased priests can't tell us about any rights, as those are the very root cause of the problems which we/they are into today. There are all facts and figures about consecration, how a deity to be installed, which I have done myself and have come across several facts which mere followers can't understand as they are trained/scared to only follow and not question. So the comment comes from me after having gone through all these to the extent any priest that you revere would have possibly gone through if not more than that. Its a pity that people who only heard stories about the scriptures try to be proponents of religious theories behind that and that is the problem this country is into today! Unless we separate scriptures from the clutches of religious clerics, we are not going anywhere for sure.

:-) If your comment was about the point ‘studied a lot’ - I didnt mean about masters or passing some exam to become a scientist - I meant studied (sorry, read) these scriptures at length and breadth if it made some little sense. "if that is education as per u” - sorry, this was not a discussion about education, hence I wouldn’t have mentioned or intended ‘educational qualifications'

Absolutely, hes a hypocrite opportunist. The largest human ego in the world is known as religion, nothing else. He now wants to waste the court's time to prove that his ego is bigger than anything else in the world in the name of some illogical celibate story - poor democracy of this country, anybody can waste the system's time here to prove his skewed thinking is right!!

can you allow chicken slaughter inside a temple? why not? Almost all hindus eat chicken then why not have slaughter house inside temple? SC may give permission for this. Sabarimala case also to be taken like this.

Religion after common-sense
by Manoj Gupta on Sep 28, 2018 03:16 PM

I think religion should be second to common sense. Unfortunate part is that we tend to place religion above common sense. And that is where the problem begins - one can justify anything in the name of religion.
