Great men of our country do not need statues to be remembered. They will be remembered for the good they have done for people of this country.OH what a criminal waste of money instead of this had it been a University or Hospital or govt could have put small housing plan for thousands of people or invested on better roads on name of said leaders.Real waste of our hard earned money paid as taxes.Politicians pls wake up or the days are not far off when non cooperation movement will start against govt in India.

. Well not a bigger waste than money spent towards reservations, MP's lavish getaways, schemes to please some sections of the society.
BTW did you realize the potential of tourism business and generation of income to the locals, hotels, airlines, trains, buses, restaurants, small eateries etc... I don't blame you for seeing the world through colored glasses

You would no even remember the last three generations of your family. Even for fore fathers we keep their garlanded photo in our house, so that we remember them. We normally are very short memory country. We tend to forget very fast. This work will bring enormous development to the region and remembrance is just a bye product, which you can do or you may not do. Mr Modi is a business minded people, he creates assets, which we can milk for generations to come. Large amount of money spent there has gone towards rehabilitation, finally to the hands of tribals those who are living there and leading 17th century lives. Also for this project money is recd from large corporates and PSU, from their CSR fund. what can be a better utilisation of CSR fund then this. We should start looking beyond, and not through prism. We tend to find only negatives, pity

This is not a waste of money but it is an investment in the development of tourism. U can imagine this is tallest statue in the world and every one wish to see it. This will also generate some employment in that particular area. See both the side of the of it.

Without the efforts of Sardar Patel, the Nizam territory would have been owned by Pakistan.
Telangana, Andhra and some part of Maharashtra and Karnataka were under Nizams terriroty and after the independence, Nizam wanted to give away his territory free of cost to Pakistan.
Sardar patel by waged an immediate war against Nizam and took control of the Nizams territory and brought it under Independent India's control. Without his timely action, south India would have been same as Kashmir

Yeah!!!Sardar Patel had gr8 contribution in uniting Independent Nations. But It is very challenging to nurture a new born entity. That job was done by other leaders from the freedom struggle under Nehru's leadership. Praise Sardar but donot demonise Nehru. He built the foundations of Indian Indutrialization,IIT,IIm,Isro etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nehru was the most undeserving candidate to become PM who had absolute no support for his candidature for PM while Sardar patel was supported by everyone. It was Gandhi who had extra ordinary love and affection for Nehru for the reasons best known to him. He emotionally blackmailed Sardar and asked him to step down in favour of Nehru and Sardar obliged and the rest is the history. Nehru and his Defence minister Krishna Menon were over confident and were caught sleeping when chinese attack India Hundreds of our brave soldiers lost their precious lives fighting bravely without proper arms, ammunition, equipment, clothes etc under severe weather condition. The family members of this brave soldiers will never forgive Nehru and Krishna Menon for their serious lapse. Instead of writing nonsense and continuing hohohoho......hahahahaha...... hihihihihihi, better know the facts before writing nonsense all the time.

This Shahjeee fellow is very much biased_Bhktaaaaaaaaaa??????????????
Stature of Sardar Patel and his contribution towards unity of India has always been great in the hearts of millions of Indians even before the installation of statue of unity. Unveiling of statue is nothing more than a political gimmick and a personal satisfaction of PM. Sardar Patel himself would have objected such a show business on his name. However, as a tourist place it is a welcome step.
