Idiot bhaskar, Sardar was the great leader whose services were not recognised and appreciated by Congress party. Sardar Patel was given Bharat Ratna many years after his death while the Nehru gandhi families were awarded much much earlier. Sardar awarded Bharat Ratna with Rajiv gandhi who got bharat Ratna immediately while Sardar had to wait for many years.

Cherish the Positivity of this achievement
by Kannan Ramanan on Oct 31, 2018 04:06 PM  | Hide replies

No BJP No Congress No Policits.
There are always 2 sides to a coin..Some will say great work, some will say what a waste of money. This case, the net conclusion is that it is positive for the country. The installation and dedication of this 'tallest in the world' statue is a great achievement by the design and execution team, who have worked in this stupendous world-class, prestigious achievement.
Tourism could be a game changer for the local economy, provided the interest is sustained and place is maintained and nurtured over the years.
Yes, poverty alleviation, economic boosters are important, but a parallel cannot be drawn linking to this and the expenditure on the project.
No magic wand can simply wish away poverty and give us economic superpower status. Sustained steps at all levels, village, town, city, state level and central level forces all have to work with objective of raising India economically. Even our Rockets, Satellite programs are being criticised as waste of money, again incorrect parallel linkage is being cited.

There is certainly a positivity of this achievement which Indians should cherish...

Great Tribute, better late then never.
by Raj Gopal on Oct 31, 2018 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

This is a great tribute of Iron man of India. It has come very late due to ill-focused leaders of the past regime who were only projecting a family's contribution and ignoring other free movement leaders.

Statue of Unity

There are lot of voices that amount spent on this is gross wastage of money. I just want to update them that his project has already fed a lot of family members of labor who were directly or indirectly involved in the cement, steel, architects and transporation. It has also fed a lot of people like tea vendor, small dhabas operated near the statue. It will also feed a lot of people after the inauguration in the shape of tourism, hotels, dhabas etc. I would also like to ask them a question whether followings are wastage of money or not -

1) Ms. Mayawati has installed a number of statues in the Uttar Pradesh.
2) Many acres of costly lands are acquired by political leaders samadhis.
3) Lot of Nehru/Indira statues are installed across the country.

Please don't be conditional.

Totally agree. Also look at the amount or revenue it will generate by way of tourism. People from across the world travel to see the statue of Liberty. They will flock to Gujarat also. Just imagine what will happen to Ayodhya if a great Ram temple comes up there. Millions of Hindus from across the world will make it a point to visit it. The economy of the region will be transformed.

Flowers looks as if they are implanted for the event. The surrounding area looks deforested, polluted and dirty.

Modi snatched the land of the tribals taking away their livelihood. Statue would have been better near the city than in the looting away land.

Yes may be flowers implanted for the event...but those can be taken care also. But you wrote that surrounding area is polluted and dirty ? I feel to laugh on you.. That is completely unpolluted area with fresh and natural air..And no Modi has not snatched land of the tribals. This will generate revenue for surrounding people as it will be developed as tourism spot. So Modi has not looted land of any and put money in his pocket.

Mr Vaghela tells Modi “Which unity are you talking about? First unite the CBI, the RBI. Unite for saving the downfall of Indian rupee, unite for bringing down fuel prices. There can be no comparison between the simplicity and austerity of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel, and the construction and the motive behind the State of Unity. The project is of around Rs. 3,000 crore, a sheer wastage and unproductive expense of public money when Gujarat is laden with a public debt of Rs.2,50,000 crore”. He recalled the time when he was the CM and during an event on the naming of the Ahmedabad airport as the Sardar Patel International Airport,BJP members (including Modi) dressed in black and waving black flags had vehemently opposed the naming in front of then P M HD Gowda. What a hypocrisy! One shouldn't have the impression that these people love Sardar. This is just using his name to market themselves.

Wait for few more years if BJP rule continues unfortunately, they will rewrite the history and declare to the world that India won the freedom on account of great freedom struggle of Sangh pariwar and a small contribution of likes of Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru and Mahatmaji.
