MJ Akbar

The demand for Mr Akbar's resignation is nonsense. If a couple of motivated ladies bring allegations of sexual misconduct against PM Modi, FM Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh will they be called upon to quit? will it be so for Rahul Gandhi? Only a court of law has the authority to convict a person. It is neither the paid media nor #Me Too bloggers that this power is vested upon. I would request Mr Akbar and other such persons under attack, who are sure of no wrongdoing, to drag these accusers to the court and give them the lesson of their lives. If they remain silent, it will, ipso facto, prove their guilt. I trust the judiciary, like its counterpart in the USA, will call the bluff in cooked up cases and hand down punishment for making false allegations.

There is no need to take this accusers to the court since they have not filed any official complaint with appropriate authorities. If they file complaint with police, a notice for defamation can be sent to them. This " Me too " movement is run by some people with vested interest and is like award wapasi when one after another started cheap gimmicks of returning their awards to the government. No of the acccusers has guts to follow legal process as they very well know that they are not in a postion to prove their allegations with evidence which can stnd before the law. Only idiots and mischief makers like Aakar patel think that Akbar should resign.

On one hand, author clearly says he admired and looked up to MJ Akbar, in the past.

From that, he suddenly jumps to saying "MJ Akbar should be fired due to the revelations"

He calls them "revelations" - not "accusations".

I'm not taking sides for or against MJ Akbar

I'm only pointing out that Aakar Patel's drastic transition from self-confessed admiration to contempt remains strange and unexplained.

MeToo: SunnyLeoneAndKanganaRanautRapedMe

SunnyLeoneAndKanganaRanaut called me one nightt and said if I sleptt with them, they would get me a chance to act. I told them I am masoom ladka, not of that kind. They gave me a drink and I felt dizzy and they removed all my cloths and outraged my modesty. They took turns to rape me. In the morning, I found my dkkk became a coil, not straightening even after I tried to stretch it with my hand. They further told me if someone like me wanted to get into acting, he should first sacrifice his modesty—that is the entry-qualfn. In the morning, they put Rs10000 in my pocket as advance and asked me to wait for a chance to act in films until they called me again. WHAT CAN I DO?

Just see from a corner if the same would have happened to any of your family member, then also you would have mocked her in this way! Many times such incidents are buried and women get only chance to make such things in public only with age. Keep MJ Akbar where it is and let women decide how much environment has improved for females to go out of house but pl. do not try to mock such voice who even not clear what they want out of these when the culprit has live his life full.

If one choose to fire Mr. M J Akbar for the allegations made via twitter/facebook of 10 years stories, it should be applicable to all the opposition party leaders, anchors of electronic medias, and also to honourable judges, bureaucrats and to all politicians.
