Keeping under house arrest
by suravarapu gopal rao on May 18, 2018 01:59 PM  | Hide replies

If an alliance takes place after the results are out, it is a friendship when needed. This should be discouraged. If alliance is allowed at will, it can also be disbanded. By keeping under house arrest, this liberty is lost. Hence, they should be let free to do what is just and needed. Giving time to prove majority is of no avail under these circumstances.

Well, the BJP has flouted all those principles that your are advocating.

It has entered into post-poll alliances in Goa.

And what can be an unholier alliance than the one between BJP and PDP in J and K ?

As for "house arrest" none of the MLAs are being detained against their will. They personally told me so.

Why congress did no claim CM post in first place?
by Chet on May 18, 2018 01:41 PM  | Hide replies

Why congress did no claim CM post with the help of JDS party in first place?

Why Congress give power to JDS party with 15% voters?
Why can't Congress claim when they have higher percent and lower MLAs.

Conress know that they will not get support of JDS if they want to form government and were scared that BJP will take JDS support

To keep BJP at bay, they offered JDs chief ministership who got less share of votes.

Why should it bother anyone if Cong does not want CM post ?

Is it illegal or immoral to NOT want CM post ? Certainly not.

After all, it's not as if Cong is locking itself in a cage and throwing the key away. If, at some time, Cong disagrees severely with policies or actions of JD-S, it can always exit the alliance at that point.

On the other hand, it is certainly IMMORAL, if not also UNCONSTITUTIONAL to --

--Claim magic figure compliance purely relying on defections

--Use black money and / or blackmail threats to ensure votes of support from other party MLAs

Oath ceremony in Karnatka
by VK Aggarwal on May 18, 2018 01:24 PM  | Hide replies

The time provided for completing the procedures is very short for oath of 221 newly elected members. In view of completing the exercise, I feel the better course would be to appoint 2 pro tem speakers and complete oath by 4 pm to start floor test. Any delay may cause problems and also possibility of proceedings late at night or to conduct floor test next day in view of late proceedings. It is better to expedite oath taking and take up floor test at 4 P.M. as directed by apex court to fall in line with the directions instead of inviting complications requiring further hearing by apex court to decide the disputed matters/ issues since 2 blocks interests are different and will try to raise issues in every proceeding.

Simpler thing would be oath
en-masse ! After all, has these oaths ever been honoured as sacrosanct by people who do blatantly unConstitutional things and mislead the country?
