NaMO Data
by Kuldeep Chandra on Mar 30, 2018 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

It is easy to find fault with any one .It is difficult to be courageous to bring about a change of pattern in governance.
EWhen MANREGA was begun it had all kinds of mistakes and net work of corruption, But with time and preeverence the situations have improved and still things are not without problem.
Security in digital world globally remains a problem. Shouting about some initial problems is to discourage a change forn the better.
I would love if comgress IT experts tell government to introduce some new measures for security and demonstrate their use.
Negativeness will be paid by negativeness.

@Kuldeep Chandra:

Pitroda is talking about lapses in data usage ethics

You are responding with claims of "achievements" in unrelated areas such as governance, MNREGA.

Where is the logical connection?

Are you saying that if a govt has achievements A,B, and C, it can be excused of misdeeds D, E, F, that have no logical connection with A, B, and C?

And the points highlighted by Pitroda are basic ethics -- not some subtle aspects. It does not require "congress IT experts" to educate the PM on these basic ethics.

Its really troubling to know that he has our data and that he will put it to 'good ', use. He never had information about the incompatibility of Newly printed currency with ATMs. He said ATMs will start functioning after two days(Nov 8th address), Post demonetization. Nor did he know that the new currency will take 4-5 months to be printed and till such time public will suffer. Currency woes are not over yet. ATMs are going dry all over India too often.

This honesty is a mask. Just as Nationalism and Patriotism. Inside, he is crooked and conniving.

Privacy circus

A country where 70% of rural population defecated in FULL PUBLIC view till about five years ago like animals - including women, now suddenly started worrying about privacy ? Worried about their names being HACKED ? Their date of birth being hacked and address being published on WEB ?

When public toilets was taken up to end this Ignominy by the new government , the CHAM-CHA party is first to mock ( because they knew what was coming).

It will take another hundred years before some sense is knocked into us. Till then, we will remain the same LOUD TALKING, MINDLESS, BRAGGARTS in the eyes of the world.

The kind of privacy that is under discussion is not your bare back.It is your personal data including your religious affiliation,political leanings,your mobile and email details that is being tapped without your consent .Modi's IT advisers should have cautioned him.But ruthless political advisers who are with him will go to any level.

You are talking like some idiot who could not digest the very concept of privacy and going haywire with the crowd.

When you are doing nothing wrong , not breaking the law why do you CRINGE with the idea of your data available in public domain ?

Religious affiliation ? You need DATA to know which religion you are affiliated to ? It is written on your face.

Political leaning ? Where do you live ? Upstate New York ?

Mobile and EMAIL details ? You kidding ? The pizza shop where you have a pizza delivered has your mobile ( and hence pretty much all your details).

All this rubbish is because it is BJP. No one ever objected when Aadhar was introduced by Congress govt and told that it will be used just like the SSN in the USA or as a national identification number.

@auryas:

How logical is it to talk about physical privacy in a discussion about data usage ethics?

The points raised by Pitroda are not necessarily about privacy. He has hardly used the word privacy.

It is more about informing users about the purpose of collecting data, and having systems that will ensure that it will not be used for anything else. That's not really a question of privacy. It is still data ethics, though.

I think you are responding more with emotion and choice english, than with logic.

Semantics aside , I guess what you just said is as vague and meaningless as the article itself.

Why do you jump and say at everything the government does or conceives 'Oh man, there is this crack that makes it vulnerable'. Why be so cynical about it ?

WHAT ELSE THE DATA CAN BE USED ? if you can give a concrete answer ( not some vague sh^t ), then perhaps every one around can appreciate what you are talking about.
