GLARING DOUBLE STANDARDS OF MODI GOVT. ON CORRUPTION
by damodaran mohan on Jul 23, 2018 04:50 PM  | Hide replies

The so called secrecy clause was known earlier too and is in public domain about which I myself have read in the print media earlier too when the deal came into controversy. Modi govt. has come on the promise of corruption free governance with transparent functioning. The just Rs 62 Cr Bofors ghost is refusing to leave Late Rajiv Gandhi even after decades while here is Narendra Modi not having any qualms about striking a deal worth thousands of crores w/o any transparency with allegations of kickbacks to his 3rd rate crony capitalists corporate making him partner with worlds' topmost defense manufacturer Dassault. The double standards on the part of Narendra Modi is glaring when it comes to handling corruption allegations relating to establishment and his BJP people and those against opposition.

Taken it as if it is new purchase with some sophisticated and technological modification : Secrecy is very much essential could be right. Earlier Agreement of 2008 it seemed to be between Govt of India and the Foreign Company or Govt of France. Fresh agreement ought to have been entered during 2016 might have had with same terms but the cost of plane must be different. Further it is in news that it has been negotiated thru another company instead of a Govt Company (HAL) Here the question of necessity arises.

Whatever be, another question is what is the necessity for secrecy in terms of cost, as Indian Public Money is involved. Whether it is insisted by the vendor? If so, what is the buyers insistence? Another question, all existing rules etc of Indian Govt followed. When CAG earlier questioned the Govt as if the respective Ministry did not follow which caused the exchequer an assumed loss of 1.76 lakhs crores.

Under such circumstances the Govt should clarify on the part of Cost and other expenditure to be/be incurred.

Rafale excuses
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Jul 23, 2018 04:16 PM

The author has tried hard to cover up for the French in this piece. It is possible that the Indian side placed an order for Rafales with some superior radars, missiles etc and maybe a superior base system, as the author hints.NO one including Rahul Gandhi is asking for detailed technical description of these upgrades.

Even if it is a newer version of Rafale with longer range missiles, why can't the Govt say so in clear terms ? Also, what justifies a cost that is THREE times the original deal. Neither inflation nor superior airframe appear justify this.
Moreover he hints that some collaboration on jet engines is in the offing. That may be so, but that can't inflate the price of this aircraft deal !

It is better that the MOD gives a broad break up of the various price components without divulging exact model nos, missile details etc to Parliament , after clearing all this with the French.

Please read the statement by Macron to India Today. He said it can not be revealed. He never said it can be revealed. Also France did not respond to this allegations as those were made outside of parliament by RaGa & his team. When it is made inside Parliament they gave a statement which is correct.

We can't blame RaGa The Kid.
by LiveComment on Jul 23, 2018 01:09 PM  | Hide replies

We can't blame RaGa The Kid. He thought that it is identical to the toy plane which his party gave him to play so he compared his plane with the plane India is purchasing for its Air Force.
Also look at the arro-gance of the entire cong. they went to the extent to say, French President lied to media, their external affairs ministry is lied, only RaGa The Kid is talking truth.
This shows RaGa's capacity to understand defense related procurement, his child-ish behavior, blaming everyone to prove his point.
People of this country should teach him and his party by completely rejecting cong. in 2019.

No one is asking for the detailed configuration and the armaments which will be part of the deal and these could be part of the secrecy covering the deal. But why is there such blunt refusal to disclose the price paid? How can this be shielded from the parliament, because the country is paying for it? In what way will this compromise security?

because if france has given a special price for India only, and if it is revealed, it will loose deals with many other nations with whom they may have quoted a much higher amount.

Dont you have such simple brains ?

It is a simple logic. Even a small manufacturer who is selling small appliances to different parties at difference price will not disclose the price openly as it will spoil his business relation with other party.
