The whole education sector is slowly on dead keel. The quality of education in both govt and private sector is in a mess. U.G.C and A.I.C.T.E guideline are just a brainwash. Something has to be done otherwise we can not be in a developed nation stage.

If criteria of standards are put then even many erstwhile g8 medical colleges will fail the test. Lack of faculty.. facilities even newly opened AIIMS are facing acute shortage of faculty... Gov is not serious running education.. leave alone Medical education
And when u say no teaching faculty, dont forget that teaching faculty is also a doctor. So if there is a vacancy for a teaching faculty which is not filled by a college especially in a government college, that means you are trying to save money .. because proper notification and recruitment is done for a government post, it will never be vacant
If there is no lass or fail approach few private institutions which are in this business just for making money will never provide standard education with no patients in wards and no primary health centres too.. it will be shown only during inspection by getting fake patients

This is real story. By privatisation of higher education we have sacrificed merit. Only profession left for desperate intelligent poor to become corrupt politicians or hapless tea or pakoda vendor.
There are 420 ( I know, dubious number :) medical colleges in India which produces over 60000 medical professionals each year. This , not including the Homeopathic, Naturopahic and Ayurvedic colleges.
Compare this with the US which has 140 medical schools and the UK has 33 medical colleges.
Maharashtra and Karnataka are famous for engineering and medical education business. The fact that there are 48 colleges in Maharasthra alone , most of which sprang up in the last 10 years speaks volumes of the nature of these colleges.
And the guest himself says these colleges fail to make he cut ( fulfilling the criteria) and yet accuses the government of killing medical education.
Like our Engineering graduates of whom 90% are UNEMPLOYABLE ( its like they earn degrees through mail order) and for no fault of theirs, doctors too are churned out like printing machine prints certificates.

Mr. Lobbyist! Try something else for living. This govt. means business, and business of people like you who survive on funds from scamsters like these substandard medical colleges is definitely going to be shut down.
