In India life of a human being of ordinary class (means not ruling class or their relations) doesn't have any value. This is evident from the way we undertake any take of work, very small scale to large major project type that is done here. One recent example is the one that happened during the monsoon rains in Mumbai where a motorbike borne couple fell and later got killed by bus. How can we keep such traps on the roads open without any barricades/fencing to prevent accidents? This happens only in India.
Reading this ridiculous article one immediately gets the feeling that we the Indians are good for nothing....but it is not true at all.... Many times we have proved that we are much more capable to handle the situations worse that this... thats why many countries asks us for help including china (in their regular coal mines mishaps). We also do seek experts help many times in floods, earthquakes, mumbai like attacks etc....

Our experts and professional are very capable. What the author was talking about seems to be the scum bags in politics and scum bags in government machinery.
Sadly what Mr.Claude Arpi said is very true as far as the Indian disaster management machinery is concerned. And all the slimy basrds of the Indian politics would have made bee line to the disaster site .
But the worst part is MEDIA.
Indian MAdarchd media would have gone overboard with it's loud , boorish and blaring sound all over the place.
Sh^t load of experts would have lectured us NON_STOP in TV studios while brainless bimbo anchors and moderators would ask them the most idiotic of garbage. We would have drowned in the noise and din.
