Mumbai is Bombay, a dirty old city ruled by dirty old archaic Shiv Sena. A most tomtomed financial capital is what it should not be, unlike New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo. It is typical of centuries old India which is now rape capital of the world. Why not build a new Financial centre away from this dirty, waterlogged (below sea level)city.
"He also said that it seems that incessant rain caused cracks in the FOB, which later resulted in the collapse."
This is nonsense. Mumbai is located in the western part of India and is bound to receive rains. So our structures must be built according to the land and weather conditions of the area. We cannot build bridges for Mumbai like we build them for Madhya Pradesh or Delhi or Hyderabad or Patna or Lucknow or such other places that do not receive the type of rain that Mumbai receives. Please take blame for inappropriate engineering or the use of substandard material and stop blaming nature. Nature is nature and we are capable of planning and implementing in keeping with the demands of nature. If we are not capable then we should not occupy the posts and resign immediately.
Please stop this nonsense...everytime something like this happens in Mumbai the authorities conveniently blame nature.
Mindless leaders are choking Mumbai with more and more development and mindless people take false pride in 'Amchi Mumbai'. If not foolishness, what is it?? India needs many smaller cities to lessen the burden on Metros, to make people live near their origins, for happy society, for better water management, for better grooming of kids, and what not. Keeping choking Mumbai so that it will one day see the fate of Kolkatta!! LEADERS wake up and THINK clearly
