Modi did try to scrap but was unsuccessful but I think it should not be scrapped also
Lalu is really lucky that Indian judiciary system is considerate else what is 3.5 years in jail and 10 lakhs for him when the man would have amassed tons of crores and probably the whole of Bihar's treasure. Such people should ideally be punished with life imprisonment as well take away of all his property and wealth which he has amassed. 4 years will pass off easily and he can come again and live a luxurious life till death. Either way even in jail he would be living king size. This can inspire more and more people especially politicians to be corrupt and amass nations and people's wealth even at the expense of getting a few years of punishment. Good luck to all such minded people, you all have a bright future in India.
10 lakhs fine for 1000 cr scam! It is just a drop in the ocean. What happened to those thousand crores, who will repay that money, how it will be recovered? If interest is added to it then the interest itself will be in crores and fine is just 10 lakhs. What a joke.

Inside court he pleads for mercy based on poor health. Instead of human food, he ate cattle food, so bound to suffer ill health. Where is the question of mercy if he could not digest the cattle feed? Outside court he talks with arrogance and contempting the court and judge claiming the verdict is due to BJP's conspiracy, implying the judge is influenced by BJP
The court should have confiscated the properties of all accused until all monies were recovered. Sahara Chief Subroto Roy put in jail to recover dues, Vijay Mallya let off by courts to travel abroad and enjoy life mocking at Indian courts, Lalu fined just a few lakhs for looting crores? Where is the justice to public who paid hard earned money as taxes? Where is the justice to lakhs of cows whose fodder Lalu ate? He should have made to serve in cattle shed preparing fodder and cleaning up dung?
