Just because all those who accepted the leadership of Gandhiji went by the name of Indian National Congress, it does not mean that all those subscribed the post-independence philosophy of the Congress. People like Ambalakkat Karunakara Menon, a descendent of the Zamorin who gave up all his earnings for the freedom fight, were a frustrated lot seeing the direction of the Congress after independence. So it is erroneous to classify all of them as part of today's Congress.

The Modi haters very conveniently ignore following few military facts: 1)After the evasion by Pakistani Tribals in October 1947, (read Pakistani Army without uniform) and signing of accession document by Maharaja Hari Singh, Cabinet Committee on Defense had order the army to reclaim the areas taken over by tribals; 2)Indian army began defence of area around Srinagar and reclaiming the North Western part of J&K.Indian Army claimed major portion of western/Northen part of J&K including important towns like Uri and Naushera by end of November 1947; 3)Indian Army countered the fierce attacks on towns like Naushera in February and March 1948 4)The front had stablised in October 1948 in view of the forthcoming winter. It was expected that remaining POK would be reclaimed by India Armed Forces would be reclaimed in Summer 1949; 5)Nehru in his hurry to become a world leader, referred the Kashmir issue to UN, unilaterally declaring cease-fire from 1st January 1949; 6)This unnecessary action wasted all the efforts made by Indian Army and Air-Force. Reclaiming today's POK, which has been sparsely populated, would have been nearly impossible for any army to hold. Given the opportunity, India could have won the same and could have easily defended it, given the state of Pakistani Army's depleted resources at that point of time; 7)The referral to UN gave Pakistan the much needed time to garner support both strategic as well as internal support. One should honestly note all this.
